The big case might not be collusion - but obstruction to that collusion.

At the end of the day, what got Nixon wasn't Watergate but the obstruction and cover-up of Watergate. Had Nixon just let things play out, some low-level underlings would've taken the bullet and he probably gets away with it - but he couldn't leave it alone.

Of course, Trump obstructed because he knew he colluded ... not only during the election but with his business. Now the question - what's worse: colluding or obstructing?

Colluding with a hostile foreign power reeks of treason, where Obstruction can be spun as a natural reaction to the "deep state witch hunt"; measures had to be taken to protect Trump from the "bogus investigation".
