Do you think Weird Willard realizes where he is and what he has become?

Mitt, you've been chosen to lead a party filled with conspiracy nuts, lunatics, misogynists, perverts, racists and social misfits who think there are versions of rape.

You're on your way to Tampa to celebrate with people who believe the above attributes make them superior Americans. Yes, Mitt, you're about to be crowned leader of a bunch of dangerous and delusional assholes. How does it feel?

That, Mitt, along with founding a company that preyed on American workers, tax evasion and the other weird shit that has come to define you

bullying and assaulting a classmate
chaining your dog to the roof of a car
dodging the draft
impersonating a police officer
pandering to racists

...is what you've become.

Mitt, that's your fucking life.

You're a perfect fit for a party in decline.

You're a rich soulless bastard. You're awkward and royally disliked.

You may believe a less fortunate (not rich) American is a "loser," Mitt, but it's only because you're projecting.

that he has lost any trace of values that he ever had.

He is a dangerous, out-of-control man.

He's been safe in a series of concentric bubbles, like those Russian matryoshka dolls, all his life. He's always been in the LDS bubble - the Mormons are insular and cliquish; not only that, Mittens was a bishop or a high priest or whatever they call them, and in the LDS church their priests have absolute power. He was in the elite rich kid private school bubble, where he behaved like a bully with no consequences at all. He's been in the rich CEO bubble all his adult life, where, again, he had absolute authority over his underlings. And now he's in the presidential candidate bubble, in which he refuses to deal with the press, won't disclose his tax returns, and won't explain his policy positions or multitudinous flip-flops, because he doesn't think he has to. He's not used to being challenged or questioned, and he has no idea how non-rich people live who don't exist in privileged bubbles. No wonder he's an awkward, arrogant douchenozzle.

like someone void of social skills. His grasp of things are on the same level as Palin, but she is deliberately ignorant.

When Weird Willard speaks, you get the impression he's just finding out about certain things or that he's repeating his limited knowledge of things he has only heard about through word of mouth, you know, like the existence of poor people.

He's almost cartoonish.

He's like an empty vessel that any nutjob can come by and fill with whatever nonsense they want. He then becomes that, then pours it out and here comes another nutjob ready to fill him up again.

I think Romney knows how immoral he's being.

I think his wife hates being under so much pressure and scrutiny.

And I think he doesn't care enough about his family or his own morality, because in the end he wants power.

While I agree that Ann hates the pressure and scrutiny, there is no doubt in my mind that she's willing to put up with it b/c she wants to be first lady almost as badly as Mitt wants to be president. It's all about status and power for them. And the 13-course dinners with heads of state while the string quartet plays in the background and four different (appropriate!) wines are served with that 13-course dinner.

It's all about what they perceive to be elegance, opulence, power and status.

Let 'em eat cake!

P.S. As for the OP, of course Mitt knows he's being a total sell-out. He'd sell his mother down the river if it would mean carrying Florida.

He has just about all the money, houses, car elevators, and prancing horses anyone could enjoy in several lifetimes. But he wants more. When you have every material thing you could want, the only thing left is power over others. But Romney is also a very frightened little man who won't stick up for any principle or take any risk because it might threaten his quest for power.
