Trump is encouraging a sort of "heckler's veto". While this term is usually employed to describe

government restrictions on speech due to fears of violence by those who disagree, the assumptions Trump makes are similar.

We don't DARE consider indicting or impeaching him, he says, because "the people" won't stand for it. His surrogates have gone so far as to predict an actual "revolt" if the "Trump haters" attempt to get rid of him by any means. I'm sure we will soon hear similar dire predictions---i.e., threats--- about what will occur if we "snowflakes" refuse to re-elect him.

Like much of Trump's "policy", this morally bankrupt bluster assumes the ignorance and cowardice of Americans. We dare not be even slightly intimidated.

"Hew to the line---let the chips fall where they may."
