Miscarriage. Hmmm wonder why this is coming out now?

Ann Romney Miscarriage Revealed In Recent Profile

The couple, who have 19 grandchildren, have never publicly spoken about the miscarriage, despite sharing other personal details during Mitt Romney's presidential campaign or previous runs for office.

The disclosure in the days leading up to the Republican National Convention in Tampa has already raised some questions. The timing has prompted some cynical political observers to suggest it was designed to evince sympathy and perhaps help narrow a gaping gender gap between her husband and President Barack Obama.

"It humanizes them,” Baruch College political scientist Doug Muzzio told the Daily News. “They become more real people who suffered the slings and arrows of fate.”

I am sorry that this woman has had to go thru so much, but at least she always has had the best of healthcare to take care of all her needs.

Not all women are so lucky.

So now we're supposed to vote for Rmoney because his wife naturally aborted, I mean, miscarried a fetus?

Miscarriages are a terrible thing for any woman, but to put this out there now just before the Republican Convention is a new low.

If the Rmoneys thought life was so sacred, looks to me like they'd keep this very private...not make it part of an election campaign...which it will be. Actually, it makes them look LESS than human to me.

"we won't *really* start a criminal investigation for every miscarriage; look, Ann Romney had one and even got some sympathy!"
Not from me, sorry.

I mean, it COULD have been an abortion that she was just trying to cover up, right...? There's a bunch of Republicans that have said so...

9. I am sorry for their loss. And I'm happy they had the health care they needed. As should everyone.

The Romneys have resources around a tragic experience that they want to deny others. If anything you'd think they would grow some compassion from the experience. Apparently not.

The candidate's wife in that program introduced a miscarriage at a similar point in a campaign (the fictional character was lying)

I'm not doubting Ann's experience -she had a number of pregnancies and it's very believable that one would have been unsuccessful. Her revelation at this point is however, at the least, pointedly opportunistic.

it's a sad thing so many women suffer this tragedy with no insurance or healthcare of any kind.

the classes are very well defined.

13. Under a "Person-hood Amendment" she might be guilty of negligent homicide.

It depends on exactly what caused the miscarriage but it would need to be investigated as a possible homicide.

If it was found that she might have done something to prevent it, then she would be guilty of a felony.

If they want to play this game then I think we should go ahead and play it. Lets shine a light on exactly what they want to do to this country and to women in particular. Mrs. Romney is a perfect case study. I would not suggest going after a spouse for political advantage unless that spouse does something which merits a response. In my opinion, this merits a response.

Some causes for miscarriages: http://www.conceiveonline.com/articles/seven-most-common-miscarriage-causes?page=0,2

^snip^

Miscarriage Cause: Bacterial Infections

Why They Cause Miscarriage
Many micro-organisms live harmlessly—even helpfully—in the male and female reproductive tracts. But certain bacteria can cause problems, including an increased risk of miscarriage. Two in particular—mycoplasma hominis and ureaplasma urealyticum—live in the genital tracts of healthy men and women, but can raise the risk of miscarriage. In women, infection with these bacteria can inflame the endometrium (the lining of the uterus), making it impossible for an embryo to develop. “There are no symptoms, however, so the only way you know if you or your partner is carrying the organism is to be tested,” says Dr. Scher.

What You Can Do
These infections can usually be easily treated with antibiotics.

Miscarriage Cause: Lifestyle (Cigarettes, Alcohol, Drugs, Environmental Toxins)

Why They Lead to Miscarriage
“Nicotine crosses the placenta and interferes with blood supply and fetal growth,” says Dr. Scher. Smokers have twice the rate of miscarriage as nonsmokers. Drinking more than two alcoholic beverages a day is also associated with miscarriage, he says, and it goes without saying—but he says it anyway—that using recreational drugs when you’re attempting to get pregnant (or during pregnancy) is foolish. Finally, women who work in certain environments—including farms, operating rooms, dental offices and hospital laboratories—have a higher rate of miscarriage for unknown reasons.

What You Can Do
“ Give up all deleterious habits before you try to become pregnant,” says Dr. Lerner, “and you increase your odds of enjoying a successful pregnancy.” If you’re worried that your workplace may not be healthy for you, tell your doctor about your concerns, and check with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at www.epa.gov.
