The Trump administration announced Friday it would award a $1.7 million family planning grant to a chain of crisis pregnancy centers that oppose abortion and dont offer contraceptives, while at the same time cutting funds to some Planned Parenthood affiliates.
The Obria group, which considers itself the pro-life version of Planned Parenthood, says it will receive a grant to provide family planning services in California.
The administrations decision to fund Obria is a signal of its desire to shift family planning funds toward faith-based groups that oppose abortion and away from groups like Planned Parenthood.
Many women want the opportunity to visit a professional, comprehensive health care facility not an abortion clinic for their health care needs; this grant will give them that choice, Kathleen Eaton Bravo, founder and CEO of The Obria Group, said in a statement.

(61,676 posts)NFP, Natural Family Planning. Nevermind that sometimes spouses travel for work and may not see each for 1-2 weeks. Or that a woman's body temp may vascillate for reasons other than ovulation. Or that what she thinks is an ovulatory discharge is actually an infection. Or that a woman's cycle is irregular, making reading the signs more difficult.
NFP doesn't work for everyone.

(9,232 posts)NFP presumes youre open to new life if it doesnt. And what if you absolutely DO NOT want a pregnancy? A dear relative has a heart condition and was told by several cardiologists that pregnancy and childbirth would be fatal to her. On the advice of physicians, she had a tubal. I suppose the NFP folks would prefer she died if/when the method failed.
