Threat to shut U.S.-Mexico crossings brings warnings of economic disaster

Todd J. Gillman and Alfredo Corchado

"Trade would crash to a screeching halt," she said, noting that a five-hour shutdown at the San Ysidro port of entry last November cost San Diego shop owners $5.3 million in sales ...

"He's about to severely damage the American economy and the very Rust Belt states that supported him," <Rep. Veronica Escobar, an El Paso Democrat> told reporters in El Paso ...

A huge amount of stuff goes through TX straight up into the heartland. I think a lot of his billionaire friends are calling him right now.

Whatever you do, don't do any of that "thinking", especially about Bob "Candy" Barr and just how covered he is at the moment with the feces the he willingly smeared on himself at my request.

No lines at that border and everyone is cool and friendly. They didn't even ask me "And why were you traveling to Mexico" then at the Border Patrol check point, 30 miles in the US, they didn't even ask us to stop and ask our citizenship. That has never happened in the over 15 years I have been going there. It is almost as if they are more lax than ever. This was the first time I have been in Mexico since the fake prez wasn't elected.

how much activity and business commerce happens on the border.

Here in Texas, the southern towns and ports of entry are bustling with people going back and forth for goods and services. It's a community. It's part of peoples everyday lives and livelihood...and not just Mexican nationals either. Americans cross over for all kinds of things a lot of it for inexpensive medical care and prescriptions.

This would kill the economies in these towns.
