Watched a short film about Queen Elizabeth on PBS last night.. the Queen opposed aparthied, but Thatcher refused to sanction South Africa.. The Queen thought Thatcher to be a bit of a white supremacis and Elizabeth was one of the first to visit Nelson Mandela to celebrate his victory.. he called her Elizabeth, and he was the only person who did. They shared a frendship right up to Mandela's death.

I remember that time so well and how Reagan also wouldn't sanction South Africa. I took part in many demonstrations about it.
