(33,643 posts)TRUMP: We will always protect patients with pre-existing conditions, always. Michigan rally.
THE FACTS: Hes not protecting health coverage for patients with pre-existing medical conditions. In fact, the Trump administration is pressing in court for full repeal of the Affordable Care Act including provisions that protect people with pre-existing conditions from health insurance discrimination.
TRUMP: You look at all of the different things, Russia wouldve much rather had Hillary than Donald Trump. I can tell you that right now. Fox News interview Wednesday.
THE FACTS: Not according to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Asked at a news conference with Trump in July whether he wanted Trump to win the 2016 election, Putin responded, Yes, I did. Putin said he favored Trump because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.

Barrs summary also notes that Mueller did not find that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to tip the 2016 presidential election in Trumps favor. To establish a crime, Mueller must generally meet a standard of proving an offense beyond a reasonable doubt. The summary did not clear the president of improper behavior regarding Russia but did not establish that he was involved in an underlying crime related to Russian election interference, Mueller said in a passage from the report quoted by Barr.
There's a bit more than that re: Russia, and their analysis of the Barr Report is pretty spot on, even if they said 'Russia' instead of 'Russian Government'.

(36,457 posts)What he's said in the past doesn't matter. Truth doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is saying what makes him look good at the moment. He's had money & influence to get him out of any mess it's put him in, in the past. Now, he has a base who doesn't care that he lies. In face his lies are some of what they like about him because they know it's part of the destructive process. There's a thread here on DU today about that. A long thread of tweets. I'll go look for it.
