On Monday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a picture of an overpriced croissant at New Yorks La Guardia airport, Yahoo News reported.
She used the expensive pastry to make a point that even as prices soar on a variety of goods, raising the minimum wage remains mired in controversy.
Croissants at LaGuardia are going for SEVEN DOLLARS A PIECE, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. Yet some people think getting a whole hour of personal, dedicated human labor for $15 is too expensive?
. . .
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) pounced on her tweet, trying to make her appear out of touch and spoiled entirely missing her point about the need for a living wage.

(5,620 posts)Cruz never demanded an apology from trump for the way he talked about his father and his wife.
His daughter clearly tries to avoid him like the plague.

Oh the humanity! Heres the answer: government-mandated FREE CROISSANTS FOR ALL. And well just force the bakers to give all of their time for free. #SocialistLogic #AprilFools
Ocasio Cortez shot back.
GOP taking every tweet so earnestly, making my point for me, she wrote. Its not an argument against the price of a croissant its about the value of human worth. But I guess that idea is foreign to them since their policies treat people as disposable anyway

(70,288 posts)... old white dudes are way out of their depth there. AOC grew up on it.
I'm an old white guy that didn't grow up with it either and I am lost most times.

(382 posts)...being so gaga for AOC. I try to explain that I would be just as gaga if she were 70+ years old and suffering with all sorts of ailments. She doesnt understand that it is AOCs quip and energy that excites me - not her physical appearance. But my wife just thinks I like her because she is pretty - in a jokingly-totally out of my league- sort of way.

(2,195 posts)We know he ends up looking like a fool, if you read the tweets in context.
But, he's not tweeting to us.
The people that he is tweeting to, will think AOC is out of touch, and spoiled. It'll be "silly socialist....she thinks everybody should have free croissants"
He didn't fail. He knew what he was doing.
we are not his target demographic.
