If they make Abortion illegal then what?

I would love for someone to pose these questions to a Wing nut on National tv.

Right now in our Country a Father has the right to disappear from their child's life forever, leaving the mother holding the bag.
The Child support Collection Program is the most fucked up system ever, even if you are a father that's paying through the system, the way they collect the money often times leaves the father with a balance and guest what the collection agency charges interest on the balance that doesn't go to the mother and child it goes to the system. WHY? Any money collected from a parent should benefit the child.

Daycare: I live in an area where avg Day care is $425 a week that's $1720 a month, not counting Rent/ Mortgage, Food, gas, utilities, everything else. Who would help these women pay this cost so they can continue to work.

Sickness: If a mother has to miss work because her child gets sick, she has no job protection from getting fired. I have a friend who's son has seizures when he gets a high fever. He got sick 3 times in a 2 month period causing her to miss a grand total of 4 days from work. her employer told her if you have 3 emergencies you are automatically fired. She had proof of ER visits that didn't matter she was fired.

If you take your child to day care or school and your child runs a fever, you have to keep that child out of the program until the child has been cleared for at least 24 hours of the fever, that is a minimum of 2 days missed work. That you employer can use as a reason to fire you.

My questions are these:
If Abortion is made illegal will their be protection in place that would prevent a parent from being fired from any job if they miss work due to a child's illness?

Will the government create an affordable safe daycare program that would allow single mothers to work and not have to give their entire paycheck to the daycare provider

Will they make it a crime for a FATHER to walk out on his Responsibilities as a Parent? In other words if you tell a man "I am pregnant it's yours" and he says "that's your problem" and leaves can he be charged with Abandonment of a minor.

Will the Adoption Process be made easier?

Will birth control and REAL sex education be made easily available?

IF a women is raped and is pregnant will the Government assume the responsibility of the Father since the real father will hopefully be in jail? I mean if the Government forces a women to keep a baby she doesn't want as the result of a rape, Shouldn't the government then pay child support for that child? Will the Government cover all healthcare cost related to the prenatal care, birth and life of the child?

Getting rid of Abortion particularly in the case of rape creates a whole new bag of concerns the least of which is helping the mother deal with the crisis of being raped, and then forced to go through pregnancy and child birth

Ok if I left anything out please Amend. If I got too extreme well so are the Wing Nuts!

all forms of birth control are next. The repukes have made it clear that they intend to put women in their place, which they believe is back under the control of men. I think it drives rightwing men nuts that so many women are independent and plan to stay that way. They will stop at nothing to gain control of women, so we have to adopt the mindset they WE will stop at nothing to fight back.

I live in the real world among real people unlike the wealthy white men who make laws about people they never want to be in a room with. I have seen first hand what my Sisters go through who are single mothers, and are raising babies that were the result of a "legitimate rape"

I know about a lot dead beat dads who hit it and split. and they all make loads of money but give nothing to their children except the bare minimum they are forced to give.

I have opened my home to single mothers when the baby daddies have kicked them and their children out on the street.

And I was raised by a single mother. I live the struggle, I see the struggle, I was the struggle for many years.

The news always seems to speak in abstract generalities, but these kinds of things are happening to real people everyday in our country
I would love to see them put a face to this issue and make it human for all these rethugs that live with their heads up their asses and never see the light of day. They need to be FORCED to see what repealing legal Abortions would really do to this country as whole.

If abortion is made illegal, I can guarantee the gov't will do nothing to help mother's and their babies or even make it easier or more affordable to adopt. What will happen is abortion services will go underground and women's lives will be at risk. So the real question is will abortion continue to be safe and available or are women going to die?

I get the desire to just take shots at the GOP, but you're exactly right; men can and do simply walk away, and women seldom do. And if they do, the duty for child care falls to their own mothers.

I suppose if the government fails us utterly then women will become even more of an underground society than we are now. We'll be the third world in the United States, living in the shadows whe we can and raising a whole lot of children who will function more and more poorly, including boys who become men who walk away because they don't know how to do otherwise (it's not just knowing what to do; it's having the ability to function in a world that has screwed you from before you were born and so not having biopsychosocial resources to help you be a good father and partner).

The problem is only barely addressable now. If the gov't. would start at the most basic level with good birth control education and accessability, good prenatal health care, good job training and child care options, good schools that teach kids and provide places for them to go after school, legalization of drugs so that the incentive to deal goes away and other options are necessary, support systems for both mothers and fathers so they can tolerate the stress of parenting, and in general a sense of inclusion for these people who feel no reason to invest in a society that has shut them out, then in thirty years we could have a much, much larger segment of the population that could get to that ideal the GOP likes to wave around.

But if you don't acknowledge how very crippling the current system is and just punish those who are injured by it for being injured, including the abandoning men and struggling women and deeply damaged children, if you take the shaming, condescending, holier-than-thou stance the Republicans do and believe that things will improve, not by work and sacrifice but by magic, then the future is dark indeed.

When the Pug proclaims to be pro-life, they don't show it in any other way except for abortion. They don't care about the mother's life, they don't care about over-population, they want to cut off welfare and food stamps...on and on and on.

What's their second, most important concern? Keeping the military fund at the max.

Granted, it takes 18 years for that baby to grow up, but 18 years go by fast (ask any parent). They want to hit Iran so much they can taste it. By the time they get that war going and, like Iraq, they'll stay longer than projected...that kid is going to be half-grown.

They sure don't want their sons going to war.

A woman who is constantly pregnant and/or caring for young children cannot get an education or keep a good job; she will be dependent on her Lord and Master, the husband. This is what they want and why abortion is just the first step, birth control is next.
It has absolutely nothing to do with "respecting life." If they really cared about ending the slaughter of zygotes, there would be pickets at every IVF clinic, and contraception would be free and available everywhere.

In June 1964, a woman was found dead from an illegal abortion on a Norwich, Connecticut motel room floor. She was identified by her sister as Gerri Santoro, a mother of two facing her third pregnancy. Santoro and her two daughters had been victims of an abusive husband/father. Santoro was just 28 years old, and was 6.5 months pregnant with her secret lover’s baby. He took her to the motel, and fled when the self-induced abortion went wrong, abandoning dying Santoro behind. (He was arrested but served only a year for manslaughter).

In 1972, WCLA was given a copy of the photo from the NYC Medical Examiner. In May of 1973, a crime scene photo of Gerri Santoro was published in Ms. Magazine, after the U.S Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in January of that year. Even before Roe v. Wade, Ms. published the names of women admitting to having had abortions, an action of civil disobedience that highlighted the importance of the issue. Gerri’s re-discovered case and terrifying photo stirred a nation and inflamed a movement. Bloody, nude, alone, Gerri Santoro’s lifeless corpse became a powerful symbol of the newly legitimatized pro-choice movement.

DIYers with toxic douches and assorted profiteers. Making it illegal will not make it unavailable. Look at alcohol during Prohibition or look at the current war on drugs... BIG FAIL.

I truly hope ACOG and the AMA will at some point speak out on this. You simply cannot work in women's health and not see the backwardness of all GOP positions on abortion, rape, oral contraceptives (which have other uses aside from birth control), etc.

Frankly, you look at those who do so much protesting and see that they are white and male. At the same time, projected national demographics point to a drastic change by 2025. So, in short they need more white babies (by any means necessary) to counter the coming brown hordes!

The adoption process will likely be made easier, as i'm sure your question was not from the standpoint of the first-mother nor child that will be relinquished. And although many of us are glad that we brought joy to a family, adoption has life-long consequences for both the first mother and the relinquished child.

Adoption should be rare, not made easier.

Rich girls who got pregnant often went to the hospital for an appendectomy but got a D & C with no questions asked. Poorer girls went to Mexico (from the West anyway) and took their chances. Catholic girls were put into unwed mother homes run by nuns as well as many non-Catholic pregnant girls and were pretty much forced to give the babies up for adoption. Married women who got pregnant, when they didn't want to, often tried to get miscarriages by excessive alcohol, scalding hot baths, extreme exercise and sometimes all three at once. The wire coat hanger is not a joke. Desperate women tried to insert any variety of rod like instruments, coat hangers, knitting needles etc. up into their uterus to dislodge an embryo often with tragic results. Many poisonous herbal concoctions were ingested to act as abortificants sometimes with tragic results. It was not a fun time for women's issues.

Center for Reproductive Rights Files Case Revealing the Horrifying Reality of El Salvador's Ban on Abortion
Manuela’s story demonstrates the fatal consequences of El Salvador’s law and why it must change

El Salvador’s absolute ban on abortion has resulted in tragic and often fatal consequences for the women living in that country — resulting in the arbitrary imprisonment of women suffering from miscarriages and complications in their pregnancies, according to a petition filed today with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights by the Center for Reproductive Rights and local Salvadoran organization Colectiva de Mujeres para el Desarrollo Local (Agrupación Ciudadana por la Despenalización del Aborto Ético, Terapéutico y Eugenésico de El Salvador).

Today’s petition was filed on behalf of “Manuela” (a pseudonym) and her family. Manuela was a 33-year-old Salvadoran mother of two who was convicted of murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison after suffering severe complications giving birth. El Salvador has one of the most extreme abortion bans in the world—prohibiting abortion even when necessary to save a pregnant woman’s life and imposing harsh criminal penalties on both women and physicians.
