For those who watched and or understand the Watergate Scandal, I offer these similarities:

The one thing that is most similar is: Nixon was a crook, and Trump is/was a crook.

Nixon orchestrated the show because of his attitude toward the law...and...
Trump is orchestrating this show...because...of ..Trump's attitude toward the law. ..

Nixon's attitude was this: as President, I can do anything, and get away with it.
Trump's attitude is this: as President, I can do anything. and get away with it.

I believe that is it, and that is all of it. Nixon lied too. His people lied.
..............................and glues what. Trump has lied is lying and his people are lying and have lied.

Some proof that Nixon erased the tapes..(just some) that would be against the law.
Some proof that Trump brokered illegal help from Russia (as did his staff)..that is also against the law....
Some of Nixon's staff, pleaded guilty and went to jail.....
...........(Atty General John Mitchel, and legal council John Dean & many others)
(some Trump's staff has already pleaded "guilty" and have gone to jail, or will go to jail)
....Trump's lawyer, and others too.
...As always, it goes to the top, to the "gang leader." ..The good guys got Nixon.
...........................................and I think that...........The good guys will get Trump.

Yes, It may take time, a lot more time. But that is what I hope and think. We see.

I remember Mitchel being appointed Atty. General. And thinking what a ass**le. I remember working McGovern and telling someone about the Watergate Break In and having that person slam the door on me.
I remember the awe that took place during the Watergate Hearings. There is much more..but it all feels the same for one reason only. My family and I always thought that Nixon was scum/crook.
.. That went back a long time to the late 40s, I wasn't old enough to follow politics, but my dad did, and he hated Nixon and passed that on to his children. We were strongly for Stevenson who ran against Eisenhower. There is so much more, but the feeling about Nixon was the same as it is about Trump. He acts and talks like he does what he wants, and he will never be held accountable. We will all see about that. Thanks again for the great picture of Att. General John Mitchel who served time in prison. Mitchell served only 19 months of his sentence at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery. He was released for medical reasons.

"In the days immediately after the Watergate break-in in 1972, her husband enlisted former FBI agent Steve King to prevent her from learning about the break-in or contacting reporters. Despite these efforts, Martha learned that one of her friends, her daughter's bodyguard and driver James W. McCord Jr., was among those arrested. She began to explore the events in order to help him. While on a phone call with Helen Thomas about the Watergate break-in, King pulled the phone cord from the wall. She was held against her will in a California hotel room and forcefully sedated by a psychiatrist after a physical struggle with five men that left her needing stitches.[2][3] Nixon aides, in an effort to discredit Mitchell, told the press that she had a "drinking problem".[4] Mitchell began contacting reporters when her husband's role in the scandal became known, initially in an effort to defend him.[5] Nixon was later to tell interviewer David Frost in 1977 that Martha was a distraction to John Mitchell, such that no one was minding the store, and "If it hadn't been for Martha Mitchell, there'd have been no Watergate." Because of these allegations, she was discredited and abandoned by most of her family, except for her son Jay. The Mitchells separated in 1973."

When Nixon was president, there were GOP'ers in the Senate who had the courage to go to him, to tell him they'd vote to convict once the House voted for articles of impeachment, and that the jig was up.

There's nobody like that on the Republicon side right now, and there may never be from that party. Besides, Nixon had won his second and last election, they figured that Ford could rehabilitate the image of the GOP. They were almost right, Jimmy Carter's lead was vanishing as Election Day 1976 approached.

When the key vote is taken to impeach Barr, or whoever. a few, 3 or 4 republicans will be on our side. But the timing is everything. Those will wait for the key vote. Because of the nature of the party now, those against Trump will wait till the end. I could be wrong, but maybe, just maybe for the important vote, there will be some to vote on the correct side.

both had/have an abiding dislike of and overriding need to be accepted by "the elite". In Nixon's case it was those who he considered "east coast elite" and in Trump's case the it's the NYC elite. Both also lacked the unconditional love of one parent, for Nixon it was his mother; for Trump, his father.
