And, amazingly, Barr's facial expression never changes. He's just sitting there like "SO?"

(1,977 posts)Barr knows he can sit there and lie his ass off and will never be prosecuted because he is the head of the DOJ and he makes the decisions about Congressional referrals for perjury.
We are in a full-fledged Constitutional crisis now. The AG has demonstrated he is a puppet of a man under investigation and will do everything possible to thwart those investigations - and there is no recourse.

(14,566 posts)The Constitution has a remedy and we do have recourse. I do agree we are in a Constitutional crisis, and that, like the frog in the proverbial pan of water on the stove, things are pretty hot. Still, we seem to be approaching a tipping point. And, Congress is fighting back quite well. Though Trump has appointed a bunch of crooks, our institutions look like they will hold.
It ain't over 'til it's over.
And our last recourse? The vote. In 2020.

Do you think it is ok for the President to ask ____ to lie?
Do you think it is ok for the President to offer a pardon.
And Lindsey comes in to bail Barr out.

(6,247 posts)The Constitution is broken. The Executive branch holds all the power. It's time for a Constitutional convention to fix the problems caused by the Founders' 'lack of imagination'
bigbrother05
(5,995 posts)And nobody thinks we could ever get folks with the qualities of the Founders to write a new, better one. Amend as needed, but don't scrap it. There is plenty of imagination in there, Congressional will is lacking.
The problem has been a lazy Congress refusing to act except out of self interest. Most of the problems have come up because Congress wrote laws to cede power to the Executive. Laws passed can be repealed or rewritten to fix problems.

Imagine what's going through white bread's mind right now. It's like the day Trump gets his perp bracelets put on. The day his bloated, overprivileged lifestyle is over. Maisie Hirono will be alive to see it too.

(81,179 posts)He clearly does not regard a separate-but-equal branch of government as having any power or authority over him, much less any power and authority to check his "little bit snitty" behavior. ("Snitty." Isn't that the word Barr used, yesterday, for Mueller's written complaints?)
