Trump, Putin, McConnell, Barr, Graham, Pence... Everything is part of a deliberate GOP disinformation propaganda campaign and cover-up.
Why won't any media use the proper term?
Bring in historians, social science researchers, and groud the use of the term in proper journalism context. But stop avoiding the obvious.

(6,042 posts)media avoids except when media itself is highly politicized and nasty. Tabloids and shills like Hannity always used Clinton "lies."
On propaganda-I much prefer it. It has a history. I don't like the term "fake news." I think propaganda say so much more and implies a coordinated campaign of deliberate lies to deceive about important, even life/death matters such as war.
The polite press seems to only use "lie" when it becomes an indictable offense -

Propaganda exposes the agenda.
Huge difference.

(3,433 posts)This isn't a good use of energy today. The media is fighting for democracy too.

I'm not referring to the normal liberal-leaning commentators, but to the major news outlets. Can hardly even trust the NYT anymore.

I'm not saying that the media hasn't become driven by ratings and profit, and there is room for *much* improvement. But let's be real here.
Fox News is propaganda. The media as a whole is far different than Fox News.
As they say, "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good".
It's dangerous to undermine the imperfect institutions of journalism that are fighting for democracy.

(3,433 posts)... all other media and propaganda.
But my impression still stands: The MSM has not confronted Trump the way they should have.
I will admit they are coming around, with Barr, though.

(1,480 posts)Headline: "By Elevating Trump's 'Spying' Claims, Reporters Continue to Mislead Their Readers"
"New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt has nearly 200,000 Twitter followers, but few will click through to the article underlying the tweet above, and fewer still will read it through. They will see only the tweeted both-sides comparison of an 'alarmed' FBI paired equally with the notion that Trump has been given 'ammunition' to charge that investigating potentially criminal conduct by members of his campaign amounted to 'spying' on it."
This is what I'm talking about. The MSM are not pressing the real issues, but are leaving Trump plenty of wiggle room to pursue his propaganda.
