Remember When We Couldn't Wait For The Mueller Report And.....

felt that it would be the 'end all - be all' to remove Trump from the WH?

What happened? It seems like we were outplayed on this by Trump and the Repugs and the Mueller Report didn't have the impact that we thought it would. We're disappointed now that the Mueller Report seemingly has fizzled. Barr and Trump had sufficient time between Barr's initial summary and the redacted report being made public - to influence the public's perception that there was 'no collusion - no obstruction' and that the report 'exonerated Trump'.

Yes - we know that that is not what the report really said - but the public's perception has been altered to think that Trump really was a subject of a 'witch hunt' and that it was a plot by the Dems to sink Trump's presidency - a 'coup' in Trump's words.

Now our hope turns to the 14 criminal referrals that were cited in the Mueller Report and redacted. These were the ones that Mueller farmed out to the states. The ones that we were told that Trump will not be able to wiggle out of or pardon his way out of.

And what did we learn yesterday from Barr. We learned from Barr himself that he has the ability to oversee those cases as the AG. How will Barr sandbag those referrals? How will he lessen the impact of those?

So - will we be outplayed on those criminal referrals as well? Did Barr share with the WH the content of those referrals? Did the WH lawyers see the unredacted version of the Mueller Report and now know the details of those cases? Will Mueller's attempts at getting the states involved in the criminal activities of Trump fizzle as well? Are we going to be disappointed again?

Why can't the Dems get an upper hand on these traitors? Why does it always seem like they are one step ahead of the Dems? What are we Dems doing wrong? How can we turn this around?

Unfortunately, I think that’s their strategy. Drag this shit out until nothing is shocking anymore and everyone is beaten down with disappointment.

54 voted to confirm. Even if all Dems had voted against him, he would have been confirmed.

confirm Barr?

I knew then what Barr was up to and I think a whole lot of people did too.

They can be stopped by Barr and pardoned by Trump. Only hope are state level prosecutions.

for a while these trumpers. I am very surprised the Dems didn't see this coming (Barr). This and other things.

And Barr's followed that to a T.

The thing is, there was no way to stop his confirmation. GOP Senate Majority.

I was referring to Dem reps and senators.

Because his confirmation was a given, they should've seen this happening. We're reacting, not anticipating.

But, how much is baked into the cake by Parliamentary Procedure? You can't say Barr lied until he lies.

You don't have your own police or prosecutors. You just have subpoenas, and they take time to enforce.

The Constitution is vague on a number of points, and Asshole is driving a truck through the gaps.

I never thought Mueller was going to be “end all - be all” to remove trump. However I never thought Mueller would punt to Congress as he has either. I never thought one of the reasons not to indict would be because the person was too stupid to comprehend the law.

It is safe to presume Barr has told the WH everything he knows about the on-going investigations and is actively working to shut them down or at least minimize the impact.

I am not sanguine about the on-going investigations resulting in any real heart-ache for trump.

Your last question is very good. I do not know why Dems have not been able to peruse/treat this as the criminal act it is. They have had four months of tough talk and now it is time for actions. A contempt citation should have been ready to go 5 min after Barr no showed today. Why give barr another 48hrs to produce material the committee wants I don’t know. I commended President Obama for trying to be bi-partisan even if it was very frustrating. I commend Dems for trying to be bi-partisan and go by the rule book but as Maher noted the other side threw out the rule book sometime ago so enough is enough. Trump and the rest of his party have shown their cards. They are going to ignore, delay, obstruct, litigate everything the Dems do to apply accountability to trump et al.

It is time for the gloves to come off. Contempt citations, criminal referrals, impeachment’s. It is time to apply the law.
