Are we dealing with a whale in sheep’s clothing?

The beluga whale that might’ve blown its cover as a Russian spy last week won’t leave the Norwegian coast where it was found, preferring instead to play with humans.

The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries, Joergen Ree Wiig, told the Associated Press that the whale was “the first thing I saw” on Thursday morning.

“I thought I was dreaming,” he said.

Wiig told the Washington Post that the alleged seafaring spook, which had only moved about 25 nautical miles within the past week, actually liked hanging out with nearby humans. That’s “strange” behavior for a beluga, according to the official.
