Trump's pick for UN envoy sent to Senate for confirmation
President Trump on Thursday formally nominated Kelly Knight Craft for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a post for which she will require Senate confirmation.
The president announced in February that he intended to nominate Craft, the current U.S. ambassador to Canada, to replace Nikki Haley as U.N. ambassador. The post has been filled in an acting capacity since Haley's departure at the end of 2018.
Craft has the support of fellow Kentuckian and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
She has been a major GOP donor, along with her husband, billionaire coal CEO Joe Craft.
