Julie Hiatt Steele, an American hero who stood up to Ken Starr, has died.

Actually, she died 2 months ago. Sadly, the media ignored her death completely. I just learned of her passing on her Twitter page.

Many of us might remember that back in the 1990s Ms. Steele got the proverbial 3 AM knock at the door. She refused to perjure herself for Ken Starr and so he prosecuted her. It resulted in a hung jury, and then a GOP judge would not allow her to be reimbursed for her legal expenses.

Ken Starr's operation was in many respects the opening salvo in the fascist movement that is engulfing us today. And it would have been launched against any Democratic occupant of the White House in the aftermath of the Reagan Revolution. As bad as it was, it could have been so much worse. It was people like Julie Hiatt Steele who prevented this onslaught from completely consuming us at a much earlier point in time.

It seems that much of Ken Starr's abusive tactics have been forgotten. Ms Steele's life was nearly destroyed by his unrelenting attacks. Ken Starr used his office as a means of executing a personal vendetta against Clinton, and yet now his mug continues to show up in various news outlets when opinions are needed on the Mueller probe.

He conducted a witch hunt rolled into a snipe hunt to lead to a kangaroo court for the GOP to attack Clinton.

He should have been arrested and tried for his cover up at Baylor.

edit to correct: Counsel not Prosecutor, that underlay Starr's power

the coverage it should have gotten.

Actually, the Independent Counsel statute was put into effect after Watergate. It had to be killed thanks to Ken Starr.

a true American. Speaking the truth, standing for justice and putting the good of the country ahead of your own personal good. RIP and thank you for your service to our country.

And screw Baylor, Ken Starr and right wing media!! On a day when I learn that right wing creeps are going to ramp up the harassment of Hillary Clinton (and her neighbors) at her home, it is heartbreaking to think of how Starr and other right wingers never have to pay the price for their sleazy behavior while Dems who have spent their lives trying to create policies that help ALL Americans will be punching bags the rest of their lives. This is Joseph McCarthy all over again trying to ruin people’s lives.
