it was weird a few of them were drinking beers with us and chit chatting in between their sets... not soliciting us for lap dances even.. it was if they were lonely.

i don't think that's typical but i don't have any other strip club experiences to compare it to... maybe it's because we were clean cut professionals and the rest of the clientelle were older and lets say.. grimy...

When I was a bartender, I became friendly with some of the girls, bartenders and bouncers of the strip club down the block from where I worked. They used to come into our place when off duty to shoot some pool. The place actually had good food, so I went there to eat when I had to do a double shift. I didn't have a membership but since the employees knew me they let me in.

You are right it's really boring but then I'm a woman. The best entertainment is to watch the gobs drooling over the women. Most of them couldn't get laid even in a whore house. I think the guys go there to impress each other. Many take clients there to do business. Most guys have told me the same thing, looking at what you can't touch is boring.

No shit, this was somewhere in SE Washington DC back in the mid 70s and I was working for the telephone company. Anyway, I got a trouble call to this strip joint and spent half an hour working on the phone line under the bar while the afternoon regulars watched the show. I saw maybe five minutes altogether, and mainly felt kind of embarrassed. But yeah, that's my only strip club experience.

at the time, later 70's and a beer was $5.00. They played some Stevie Wonder song while this girl dangled herself around a pole. It was boring as hell. Later, we walked over the the adult book store just in time to witness the cops come in and question the owner about under age people at that store. I remember getting a very nasty look from one of the cops when I announce in ear's distance, "Geez officer, I'm almost 16!"

We left before my husband let me say another thing.

Really stupid... and I was really under-welmed by the whole experience... especially the $5.00 beer.

Occasionally one of them would drink too much and get rammy with one of the strippers or bouncers and the next morning they would wake up laying in a farm field with lumps on their head. They always felt lucky lumps on the head is all they got. And they were lucky that is all they got because I knew where they were going and who owned them.

I don't like lumps on my head. From bouncers or from my wife so I always passed on the boys nights out stuff.

Glad I did too.

I guess it's like a bar.
If a person goes to a bar like "Cheers" to meet and shoot the bull with buddies, it can be entertaining.

But going there just to get plowed, or get their jollies watching people take their clothes off to over-loud music, jsut isn't my thing.

pre-med student (showed me his student ID to prove he wasn't lying). They love to chat up customers during their breaks and my partner and I have met some really nice and intelligent guys. Most of them work for tips and while a dollar or two may not buy you love, it does rent you the company of some very sexy, nearly naked friendly young guys for a few minutes. Since the bar is usually pretty crowded it can be quite intimate to say the very least....

I started going right after my wife and I split up.

I have been a regular for a couple of years now- Lately not as much since I moved 50 miles out of town -

I know some of the dancers and the bartenders and the owner well enough to call them good friends.

I go to the family christmas party every year, hang out at birthdays and have gone to one dancer's wedding.

I used to trade walking the bartender's dog for cat sitting duty.

It's funny to be on the other side of the wall - to be out of the category of "trade" - I no longer get offers for private dances. I get to see photos of the kids and listen to relationship problems.

It is a very rich subculture, and dancers cannot be lumped into stereotype any more than DU can.

I have to drive to town tomorrow so I'll go have lunch and say howdy.

Why do you ask?

Of course, one time I went with a bunch of guys and my future brother-in-law in Detroit. We went for the entertainment of seeing dirty old men acting stupidly as much as the "dancers".

One was in a dodgy neighborhood -- Hell, they all were. The owner began pacing the floor when one of the patrons began flossing his teeth with nature's own dental floss (to put it in a literary sense). That's when we realized that we'd better split before the paddy wagons pulled up to the door.

That was years ago and I've not been to one since. They are sleezy; drinks are too damned expensive; I don't like cover charges; and I am just not entertained by the whole milieu.

It was a real dive. It was interesting purely because I had never been to one before do it was a new experience and it seemed like a cool, edgy thing to do with my boyfriend when I was 20.

I've never really been interested in going to another one. And the idea of going to see male dancers doesn't appeal to me at all.

Last month I was bored on a business trip (in a small city in the midwest I've been to a hundred times) and I went to see "Magic Mike" and boy was that a mistake. Boring as hell. The audience was filled with middle aged women oooohing and aaaaahing and giggling and I just thought the whole thing was ridiculous. I was hoping the story would be good but the story was even stupid. The weird thing was that I am also a middle aged woman and there I was watching all these other women in the audience wondering why they thought it was so great and yet I was so bored. Guess we're all wired differently as to what we think is interesting and exciting.

Mon Aug 27, 2012, 08:57 AM

As a HS Senior, I took some classes at the local Community College. I was 18, the legal drinking age then. One of my classmates in a Music Theory class stripped at a completely nude club in DC to pay the bills. Her father was not happy about this. He would come to the club, sit in the front row and try to embarrass his daughter out of doing this. He behaved well enough to avoid being bounced out - he just sat and stared. She did not receive financial support from her family. She asked us to come to her club and take up the tables in the front and confront her Dad to try to get him to stop. So, when she performed, about a dozen of us, men and women, would get there early, pay our minimums and take up as much of the front row as we could. We also talked to her Dad saying that it was pretty sick for him to come and watch his daughter do this. Eventually, he stopped showing up - and so did we. She later quit dancing and waited tables.....eventually she joined the Navy and got her degree that way.

At 19, I went to a club in DC where a performer took hold of the grid of the suspended ceiling and the whole thing came crashing down.

At 21, I went to a club in San Francisco, Carol Doda's Condor Club, which had unusual performers including a third trimester pregnant woman, little people and a woman with snakes. I was a Theatre Major and found the whole thing interesting but not particularly erotic.

After that, I went to a few Bachelor Parties at clubs.....the last time I think was about 1995.

Every time I went, I was thinking more about why the people involved were there rather than thinking about having sex. I would think about sex a lot more when I went to the beach or was playing in a band or at parties........

Mid 80's when renting a limo was a trendy big deal, my 21st bday. I and 6 other girls rented a limo, went out drinking and touring bars and strip clubs. Only found one with male strippers, had male and female both, and it was a sad, sorry dive. We were determined to have fun, though, so we were cutting up and laughing, and one girlfriend was kind of embarassed to be there, so she pulled the tablecloth over her head, just playing it up for laughs.

Two days later she went to the Dr. cause she thought she had pinkeye...

...she had crabs in her eye.

Funniest. Shit. Ever.

A friend's Welcome Home party.

Had a real tough time getting past thinking "that's someone's mom/daughter/sister."

It's just not my thing. But I tipped like a champion. (Hey, I'm not a jerk.)

Partially because I think I would find the phony attention rather depressing and partially because I'm too cheap.

Also I don't care for giant (fake or otherwise) breasts. All I can think about it is how much that has to hurt the back.

I think guys do it for a number of reasons. The most obvious is men tend to be more visually stimulated. Also it can be useful for those of us who aren't exactly successful with women, albeit in a stunted fashion. For those who go in groups, there's the whole bonding thing, and at least some people see it as a rite of passage. When my stepdad heard I had never been to one, he encouraged me to go at least once.
