In case you missed it this morning, President Trump called tax avoidance a "sport," and bragged about how good he is at it. Is this the person who best represents the middle class? Absolutely not! #BillionDollarLoser

....you would get it by building, or even buying. You always wanted to show losses for tax purposes....almost all real estate developers did - and often re-negotiate with banks, it was sport.
Additionally, the very old information put out is a highly inaccurate Fake News hit job!

Real estate developers in the 1980’s & 1990’s, more than 30 years ago, were entitled to massive write offs and depreciation which would, if one was actively building, show losses and tax losses in almost all cases. Much was non monetary. Sometimes considered “tax shelter,” ......

...hate to say it but knowing guys that were in real estate during the 80's and 90's (and welling into the 00's)...there is a kernel of truth here. The tax laws around commercial real estate were (and in some ways still are) an absolute joke. These guys would do what seemed to be the dumbest chit to get what seemed to be huge tax benefits. These guys were f'ing buying 40-50' boats on their tax savings every 3-4 years when the old one got "salty" (whatever that means).

So, to summarize:

1) he's a liar
2) he's a cheat
3) he's likely got some squirrely chit in those returns
4) he's nowhere near as rich as he claims
5) he's a racist, sexist, nationalist asshat.
6) he's right that it was sport (IMHO)

Seems a House tax committee has valid reasons to investigate tax laws to see if the tax-payer is being ripped off.
Clearly, there is necessity to invoke the law requiring the income taxes of Trump (top dog rep of the ruining class) to be made available to committee.

Trump said so, as he is exposing the rot of the rich, and reveling in revealing the dirty secrets of super-class socialism.
Some sarcasm!
