One student dead, eight others wounded in shooting at suburban Denver school

The student who died was a senior who was expected to graduate in just three days, officials said. He died at the school.

Two suspects, both students at the school, are in custody, according to Douglas County officials. The adult suspect was named late Tuesday as Devon Erickson, 18. The other suspect is a juvenile female, officials from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Five of the other students who were shot have been released from hospitals, Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said, and three remain in intensive care.

Unfortunately, we're (the country) is becoming desensitized to these sorts of things, so a school shooting where 'only' one person is killed isn't as big of news as it once was.

Also, the adult shooter was evidently registered as a Democrat, liked Obama, and didn't like trump. The minor shooter may have been a female who was transitioning into a male, and it seems that no assault rifles were used in the attack.

These things alone will cause the discussion of the incident here to be somewhat shorter than it may otherwise be. But, I'm sure the right-wing sites will be 'discussing' it enough to make up for it.

I defy you to find a single post where I have said more gunz.

I would like shootings to get attention, I would like all school violence to get attention. To those who claim to be so concerned appear to only become concerned if many die. 1 or 2 isn't enough to bother. And even if 3 or more are killed but with a knife or something else, no one will care except maybe a snide comment about how it could have been worse.

I still work part time as a school security consultant. My goal is to stop violence, not just shootings, before it happens. I have not had a single client that I had recommended they add firearms to their security plan.

Unlike those whose action is limited to posting new and creative insulting terms for gun owners, I am out in the world trying to make a difference. From the feedback I get from the schools, incidents are down so I like to think I am a small part of a solution rather than an impotent agitator.
