...a pic of happy grandparents meeting their new grandbaby with the proud parents standing by.

It's something all kinds of people do all the time.

Sort of thing that binds us together as a species, yanno?

appreciatively,
Bright

They're just so darned cute.

This is remarkable for the Queen and Prince Philip. To accept a mixed race person in the royal family is a big deal, esp. for people from their generation. And yet, they seem genuinely in love with both Meghan and the baby (not just pretending). I'm impressed with them for this.

Harry and Meghan seem so happy and in love.

As for me...I'm jealous because Meghan is so naturally pretty. Not fair! (So is Kate. I guess that's why they got to marry Princes. I can tell you that my ex was not even close to being a prince, in any meaning of the word.)

Quite honestly, there is very little "monarchy" in this monarchy. They have little real governmental authority. And really it has been suggested that if they ever tried to exert any powers they might have, parliament might immediately remove that authority. It's pretty much a "Disney" monarchy at this point whose entire purpose is pretty much these kinds of pretty pictures, and pomp, and ceremony. Yes, personally their pretty much separate from laws and the such. But if they really ever pushed that, it could all change quickly.

I don't know much about her with kids (she seems quite good with them), but I watch a lot of shows about the royal family and Harry is really, really wonderful with children. He's going to be a great dad and I'm sure she's going to be a great mom.

Very nice family picture, except for the institutionalized privilege, which doesn't show all that much in this particular shot.

They represent their countries. They play an important role. And they live under public scrutiny at all times. It can’t be easy and I’m in favor of the way Prince Charles, William and Harry are changing the Royal image on the world stage.

What’s wrong with that?

It really doesn't matter one whit whether or not we approve of the British monarchy. At this point, we are in no position to criticize how the UK divides the head of state and head of government.

This is really just a really nice family picture.
