Whatever Trump is hiding, he is more than willing to bring the total the country down

to hide it.
Probably even willing to start a war to divert attention from it.

And his lackeys like Barr and Manafort and Stone and many more seem to be willing to go to jail for it.

And Mitch McConnell is also willing to ruin the country for SOMETHING?

Is it just money? Feels like it must be more?

Just thinking out loud.

Republicans are not following Trump or his Trumpism, but they know if everything comes out about Russia, etc. and if Trump is impeached based on obstruction or incompetence OR whatever... They will lose power for a generation. They are scared shitless about that. They've doubled-down. They are all in...They don't care about governing, the care only about retaining power.

If he loses in 2020 or is impeached, there is a good chance he's going to jail for the rest of his life and he'll suffer catastrophic financial losses. This game is for all the marbles.

As for the enablers: the GOP, they can't get caught being mixed up with Russia to swing the election. Russia probably has Kompromat on a bunch of them anyway. And the GOP cannot be seen sticking Trump in the back with a knife or they'll lose is crazy loyal racist base. With the shifting demographics, the GOP are in dismal shape for the longer term. So they're pretty desperate too.

In 1974, we had a pretty good sense of how it would eventually play out with Nixon. But today, this is a new game with different circumstances and sadly, I don't sense as much confidence in how this is all going to turn out.

The fact there doesn't seem to be an ounce of shame from any of the gop is mindblowing to me.

They are spitting on the foundation of what the country has stood for, blinded by selfishness, greed, power, racism, etc. They've been despicable much of my life but they've fallen to a new low.

Now, they're endangering the country and in doing so, the planet.

One of the outcomes of Watergate was the backslapping - "the system worked!! We got the crook out of the White House." A key component back then was there were enough Republicans who put the country first - ahead of Nixon - in part because we had a more concentrated core of media with people we trusted like Walter Cronkite.

We don't have enough of that kind of media reaching all Americans nor enough Republicans who would place the country first ahead of their party. So far, the system isn't working and I'm not sure it will before the 2020 election.
