The Crowd Started Leaving Halfway Through Trump's Florida Rally

The Crowd Started Leaving Halfway Through Trump’s Florida Rally
Trump couldn’t hold the attention of his own supporters in Florida, as many of them began leaving him halfway through his rally.

Trump’s own supporters walked out while he was still talking

The New York Times reported:
The president cycled through a familiar list of rally topics, like a border wall with Mexico and the support of Democrats for late-term abortions. But it was a discursive performance, even by Mr. Trump’s standards, and the mood was notably less electric than at some of his other rallies. The crowd began straggling out during the latter half of the speech, to the sound of helicopter engines being warmed up in a nearby field.

Mr. Trump twice complained about the stage — where he stood under a giant banner that read “Make America Great Again” — saying that the floor was so slippery that he wondered if it had been set up by the Democrats.
Even his own supporters are bored with Trump

Enthusiasm matters in elections. Many voters need to be motivated to cast their ballots. Donald Trump is using fear as his primary motivation, but he beats the fear drum so incessantly that it appears his supporters are beginning to tune him out. Trump is not a popular president. He has an iron grip on the Republican Party, but moments like what happened in Florida lead to questions about how passionate the support is for Trump.

Republicans were outworked and out energized by Democrats in 2018. Democratic voters would flock to the polls in waves if they could cast their 2020 ballot for president today. The level of intensity on the Democratic side has not been this strong since the Obama/Clinton primary.

While Trump’s supporters are walking out on him while he is still speaking, Democrats are ready to ready to roll and counting down the seconds until November 3, 2020.

or you lose them.

A classic example of this is professional wrestling. If you compare the stunts that were performed back in the days of the regional wrestling businesses they were pretty tame compared to what McMahon's WWE has put on for the past decade or so.

WWE has reached a point now where the only way to keep the audience is to have their performers literally injure each other. Since that's a bar to high, McMahon's empire is in decline.

If Donnie O can't produce more sensational fear and hate he will also lose his audience.

They're overweight, hypertensive, diabetic and dyspeptic, with arthritic knees and hips, making it difficult to stand for so long. In the future Trump's advance people will probably have to permit wheelchair and walker access to these Bund Rally events if they want to avoid stories like this. It might ruin the optics, though; a sea of angry octogenerians, relying on medical devices to keep from falling down while offering nazi salutes.

I don't really care, do you? After two years of factories closing, weak hurricane responses, name calling, and alllllll the rest, people just move on. Even if they all vote, we outnumber them. but, voting isn't enough.
We need to protest peaceably but in large numbers so the world knows this isn't how we roll. Like they do in France. When stuff happens, regardless of what French leaders say, the world knows how the French people feel. It's an important statement. When we are dull in our responses, it doesn't get on tv, and the world thinks we are fine with the shit he does. Protesting has a wealth of benefits.
AND IT"S ALMOST HALF WAY THROUGH MAY> This is the time when the summer starts whistling by. Organizers should consider the warm weather for good turn outs. "Summer of Love" and the Summer of '68 comes to mind.
Seems an Occupy type situation would bring news to protesting everyday this summer. We camp out, and support each other, and mak a statement to the world.

He seems absolutely terrified of falling in public, from his well-documented fear of stairs to his tweets/warnings to Obama that he would fall down the stairs, taking carts and elevators everywhere, including onto the greens (some of them are sloped, the grass could be slippery). . . . is that what all the escalators are about too?

And now this complaint about a level, slippery floor, twice? Imagining Democrats installed a floor with the hope he would fall down?

Does he fall frequently? Is that why he looks down so carefully at his feet all the time?

He hasn’t rolled out any new material.

The act is getting old.

He’s getting old.

This is an act and if he doesn’t refresh it he’ll continue to lose his audience until only the completely crazy are left.

Trump needs a new script writer! Someone who can list his achievements, suitably fact checked, and give him realistic plans for the future!

Should be a short speech, tops 5 seconds.

Trump - too many rallies, not enough substance, too much repetition.
People get bored easily.
Especially those who thought years ago you would be good at improving their lives.
They know better now.
You can only leave dumb people waiting so long for the good stuff before they wander off disillusioned.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm surprised it took this long.

A wonderful time for Democrats to get in there and push the 'Out with the Old and in with the New' message.

Republican Voter #1: "Trump has become boring!"
Republican Voter #2: "Look! The Democrats have a (fill in your favorite right-wing boogeyman phrase here) running for President!"
Republican Voter #1: "ZOMG MAGA MAGA MAGA!! GIMME THAT FLAVOR-AID!! HEIL TRUMP!! HEIL MURIKA!!!"

They never really give up, or throw in the towel. And you’re correct, our complacency is the quickest road to defeat.

vote than he did in 2016. Democrats have to motivate the base and persuade some people they were duped by a charlatan huckster.

97. I Don't Think That Most People Who Voted for Trump Were That Serious Anyway

I think that many, if not most of them fell into the following categories:

1) They voted on a lark to try something different, to shake things up in Washington;

2) They were mesmerized or glamorized by Trump's celebrity status as a reality TV star, or fell for all his BS about being a business genius;

3) They didn't want another Clinton in the White House - and there was a general mood of aversion towards the return of any political dynasty, including another Bush;

4) They liked Trump's catchy campaign slogan(s), and/or found his rallies extremely entertaining.

Since most of Trump's initial electoral support was not that deep or sincere in the first place, it's not surprising that people have started to drift out when the novelty or entertainment value have started to wane.
