Why Are Republicans Anti-Choice?

Last edited Sat May 11, 2019, 08:38 PM - Edit history (1)

Maybe it’s because less children in the world means fewer school shooting targets for the gun nuts, fewer kids to shame when their parents can’t afford school lunches, and fewer kids to rip away from parents at the border in order to scare immigrants into staying away.

If that statement seems mean, insulting, and demeaning, that’s okay – it’s meant to.

1. I think it's due to racism. They don't want white women abortiung white babies.

Republicans do not give a damn about babies or children given their stances on health care and education. Their anti-choice stance is all about maintaining the white race.

All of those aborted white babies are babies that infertile white couples would like to adopt, like before Roe v Wade. There are not so many available white babies anymore.

2. IMO, conservatives see unwanted pregnacy as the natural punishment for the sins of the promiscuity

BC and abortion interfere with that. Nothing p*sses off a conservative more than someone they think of as their lessers are getting away with something. God won't punish them it seems, so they are going to judge and punish for God. Hubris.

3. It's a typical RW talking point, made to sound all righteous and moral and all...

but in the end it is typically mean-spirited, controlling, and spiteful.

It was never about children. It has always been about controlling people, especially women, POC, and poor people in general.

Note that Repub/conserve answers never involve mitigation of conditions, just about punishment for "indiscretions."

5. A lot of them aren't.

More than one-third, in fact. Not that one would ever guess that based on the stances of R politicians or coverage in the media.

I suspect that of the other roughly two-thirds, a higher percentage of them do so because it's a handy political tool to appease the rubes than because of any kind of religious or moral objection.

6. Perhaps the republicans think they know what is best and that it's okay to make decisions for

someone else as long as you know what's best for them.

7. Because God wants men to control "their" women.

Women aren't supposed to have sex unless it's to make babies; women who have sex because they like it are sluts. Pregnancy is punishment for all that sluttiness. Men get to have all the fun sex they want, though. Why is that?

8. When they were building their "moral high ground" bullshit

they needed Catholic votes. The Catholic church, back in the 50's and 60's, was the leading opponent to Roe vs. Wade and very well organized. They signed right on when they heard they could be part of the "moral majority".

10. They need the votes of RW Christians..

...and that's what RW Christians have been brainwashed to care about.

None of these Republicans actually give a good goddamn about fetuses or "life" or whatever else they claim too care about morally. It's just a way to fire up a base of voters who won't question as long as you press the right buttons in the right way.

Trump was just a goldmine for them in that he claimed to care about abortion AND he's a racist.

13. Brainwashed is right. There is not one thing in the Bible that supports the "Pro-Life" doctrine.

.

The triviality of the fetus, diminished to a fine, is all that exists. All other claims are just fabricated bullshit.

In fact, there is once section that talks about miscarriage drugs being given if there is question of paternity.

The churches use this as a tool to fleece congregants, keep them galvanized and perform free labor at church.

They would like to return women to chattel status. This is a step on that path.
