President Donald Trump said it would be wise for China to act now to finish a trade deal with the U.S., predicting that far worse terms would be on offer for them after what he predicted would be his certain re-election in 2020.
I think that China felt they were beaten so badly in the recent negotiation that they may as well wait around for the next election, Trump said Saturday in a pair of early-evening tweets. The only problem is that they know I am going to win.
Trumps comments came a day after talks between the two economic superpowers ended without a resolution, the U.S. increased its tariffs on billions of dollars of imports, and China made clear what it wants to see from the U.S. in talks to end their trade war.

It looks like China is going to expose Trumps lack of negotiating skill. Will his base notice?

(46,028 posts)There are no winners-and-losers in negotiations and mediation. That's the whole point. Both sides give up something to end the litigation of demands and to gain a moderate advantage.

(11,885 posts)Get his way or else he'll stiff them with the money we owe them like he's done in business. They know whatever deal he wants is worthless because he won't keep it , then he'll just demand more, again like he does in business. No leaders from other countries should trust this con man ever for anything, or suffer from the consequences , as many others have in the past , and refuse to deal with him again. He's a serial crook.
