Christie got his shtik from Giuliani

Rudolph Giuliani urged Christie to follow the same confrontational style the former Republican New York mayor brandished when he took control of City Hall in 1994.
“Make all the tough decisions right away. People are going to get very angry and very upset with you. But you’ve got to expect that because you are going against the grain,” Giuliani recalled in an interview last week. “I mean New York was a Democratic state. I didn’t expect to be loved.”
Whether his advice inspired Christie or, as Giuliani says, reinforced “what he already knew,” is unclear. Christie declined to be interviewed for this column.
