Two more bodies found in inquiry into German crossbow deaths

Two more bodies have been found during investigations into the deaths of three people discovered in a Bavarian hotel room who had been killed by crossbow bolts.

Two women were found dead at a flat in Wittingen, northern Germany, belonging to one of three people who died at a hotel 400 miles away in Passau, near the Austrian border, on Saturday.

Police said they did not immediately have details of the identity of two additional women found in a search of the flat and what happened to them. Police confirmed the pair had not been killed by crossbow bolts, but confirmed they were investigating links to the Passau deaths.

The discovery added a new level of mystery to that case. Investigators were still trying on Monday to determine the relationship between the three people whose were found shot with crossbow bolts.

Not sure if "suicide pact" covers this any more.

The man killed in a crossbow murder-suicide pact in Germany is believed to have led a cultish group devoted to medieval folklore and treated the women around him like slaves, reports say.

Police are treating the case as a "requested killing and suicide", suggesting Farina C first shot the couple and then herself.

One of them, 35-year-old primary school teacher Gertrud C, was the partner of Farina C. The other was a 19-year-old woman, said police, without naming her.

"Investigators suspect they were all members of a kind of sex circle with a focus on the Middle Ages. Torsten W may have been the guru of the group," reported RTL after interviewing several people who knew them.

The Wittingen discovery came on Monday, as police investigated the hotel room deaths.

Mr Feiler said it was not yet clear how long the bodies had been in the flat.

"The corpses were found because one of the neighbours heard about the reports from Passau and told police that the letter box of the flat was overflowing and that a strange smell was coming from the flat," he said.

So if the 2 bodies in Wittingen had begun to smell, and the letterbox was overflowing, they'd been there some time. Was one or more of the 3 in Bavaria responsible for their deaths, and they went away to kill themselves, knowing they'd be arrested sooner or later?
