If it is, way to go, Bill Nye!! Send this to everyone you know. HS kids included.

If it is faked somehow, still send it around to everyone including HS age kids.

I have felt exactly the same as Bill in this clip for at least 15
years. Probably longer.

Wake the fuck up, repubs!!
WAKE THE FUCK UP, EVERYONE!

and/or I wish it would wake anyone up; capitalists know exactly what they are doing, but don't care because the profit motive outweighs all other considerations for them...the "conservative" voters of the world will never budge from their position that "global warming" is a big lie cooked up by the Chinese to fuck over the American manufacturing industry (or something like that??), and will never think for themselves--the only way you could change their minds is if you get their AM radio hosts and preachers to start telling them "umm hey guys actually we should probably do something to maybe stop from making the planet an unlivable hell-sphere"

Not even here on Democratic Underground.

The only possible fossil fuel free world economy that resembles in any way today's economy would be nuclear powered.

A world economy powered entirely by "renewable" energy sources such as wind and solar would look nothing like the economy many affluent people now enjoy.

If we were serious about climate change we'd be paying people to experiment with lifestyles having a very small environmental footprint, and we'd be encouraging the most successful of these lifestyles as measured by happiness, not by money.

Typically these lifestyles might be urban and largely vegetarian. Few people would own cars. The population density of some suburbs would be increased, creating walkable urban centers within them where people work and shop.

To seriously address global warming we have to crash land the world economy as it now exists, before it disintegrates around us and billions of us die.

Climate change is already killing people, and refugees are already migrating away from areas that have been severely affected by climate change. It's only going to get worse.

What we now call "economic productivity" isn't actually productivity at all, it is in fact a measure of the damage we are doing to what remains of the earth's natural environment and our own human spirit.

I'm not sure we can fix the problem in our current political system. No politician is going to win on a platform of removing factory farm meat from people's diets, and cars from their garages. Instead the economy will crash in some crisis, even here in the U.S.A.. Those of us who are not immediately displaced by the crisis will have to have learn compassion for those of us who are.
