NYT: Pentagon presented plan to deploy 120,000 troops in case of Iran escalation
snip//
The big picture: Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have been warning of an unspecified "escalating threat" from Iran in recent weeks, after receiving intelligence from Israel about a possible Iranian plot to attack U.S. interests in the region. Trump told reporters today that hed been hearing little stories about Iran, adding: If they do anything, they will suffer greatly.
Saudi Arabia on Monday announced that two Saudi tankers were damaged by an "act of sabotage" over the weekend in the Gulf, without identifying any suspects. Irans foreign ministry distanced itself, calling the incident worrisome and regretful."
Later on Monday, AP and other media outlets cited an anonymous U.S. official as saying an "initial assessment is that Iranian or Iranian-backed proxies" were responsible.

(14,144 posts)... it was an Iranian terrorist bomb that caused the damage to the ships.
Let's go to war with AmeriKKKan tax payer dollars picking up the entire tab.

(16,646 posts)One smells the familiar stench of lies meant to move people towards war.
Unfortunately, it is also true that one could do a tremendous amount of damage to a ship that wouldn't be obvious from satellite imagery. It's why lying is so corrosive. It becomes the presumed state.

(18,600 posts)Show damage below the surface? I highly doubt it. The headline is ridiculous to me.
I do find it odd that there appears to only be one picture of one of the damaged tankers. I would expect the damage to all, with multiple photos, would be detailed by now.

(2,132 posts)It seems likely that this is all a lie meant to justify a war with Iran.
