Sadly birds are killed in incomprehensibly huge numbers from many sources. Wind mills are a tiny tiny tiny percentage of deaths. And the oil powered or coal powered plants replaced by wind mills kill vastly more. Wind mills make the world safer for birds.

Right now, wind turbines kill about one bird each per year. They are currently researching several ways to reduce this. One I recall is painting the blades purple to reduce attraction of insects.

It is a small fraction of how many birds are killed by cell and radio towers.

It is almost nothing compared to how many birds cats kill.
