The Republican Party's most shameless lie

http://www.nationalmemo.com/mitts-most-shameless-lie/

"On “Meet the Press,” Republican National Committee chairman Rience Priebus declared that “This president stole…$700 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare. If any person in this entire debate has blood on their hands in regard to Medicare, it’s Barack Obama.”"

...

"What the Affordable Care Act does do is something conservatives have long clamored for: It cuts, not benefits, but Medicare’s future costs by roughly 10% (or $700 billion) over a ten year period by A.) Reducing corporate subsidies to insurance companies administering Medicare Advantage plans, and B.) Slowing the rate of growth in payments to hospitals."

Although that reminds me of 1992. Bush Sr. did something that Democrats had long clamored for - he raised taxes. But then Clinton attacked him for doing so.

was for breaking the promise of "read my lips, no more taxes" - more than raising the taxes themselves.

5. It worked for them in 2010. We should have been more prepared for this.

Republicans as defenders of Medicare! At what point do we admit that we are too stupid in this country to have a democracy?

7. Use of the word "stole" is particularly egregious

Obama transferred Medicare money within the system. How is that stealing? Of course the insurance fat cats who wanted that money feel it's stealing from them. At least Priebus should be honest and, if he insists on using the word "stole", say that Obama "stole" it from the insurance companies. But he knows that most Americans would stand up and applaud that kind of "theft".
