For the November, 2020 elections, we need to finally do what we

should always have been doing. The way to ensure that it's absolutely clear that we reject Republicans and all they pretend to stand for is an overwhelming win by Democrats. In State Legislatures, in Congress, in Governors and every other office, right down to the local sheriff and city council members.

We need every Democrat to be registered to vote. We need every Democrat to go the polls and vote. If we could manage that, the Republican Party would die in 2020, once and for all.

Don't believe me? In almost ever state, 40% or more of registered voters do not vote in the general election. 40% and more! In addition, there are potential Democratic voters in every precinct in this nation who are not registered to vote.

Do you see what I'm saying here? I'm always promoting GOTV on DU during election years, but nobody's interested. Instead, they want to argue about the flaws some Democratic candidate might have. That is not how we kick the Republican's collective ass. We do that by simply winning overwhelmingly at the polls. If we want to. If we will do the work.

What is the fate of your state and this country worth to you? Are you willing to help it be a place you're proud of, rather than a place you cringe at? It is in your power to make good things happen.

Plan now to do something, anything, to get out the vote. Even if it is just talking two or three other people into going out and voting for Democrats. That doubles or triples your vote. But, you can do much more. What can you do? Well, contact your local Democratic Party organization and ask how you can help. They will have many options available for you. Sign up to do something, and then follow through and do it.

We can win, if we have the will to win. So, let's win!

said if young women voted, we'd be in control of everything. I'd say ditto young men. My 21 YO son says most of his friends don't vote and are completely disillusioned by "the system."

in every election. That has always been the case, so it's not just this generation. Peer pressure is the answer. And it has to come from other young people and the people they see as their leaders or influencers.

They want change, they say, but then a majority of them stay home on election day. If they want change, they should vote for change. Otherwise others will make their decisions for them.

They won't listen to me. I'm a 73-old geezer. They might listen to your son, though.

It is possible to motivate young voters. Beto did it last year in Texas with his phenomenal GOTV campaign - they turned out in droves because they felt a strong personal connection

And we will be in 2020. All this anti-women legislation may inspire young women to vote too.

The number of registered voters had a huge increase between 2012 and 2016, increasing from around 150 million in total to around 200 million in total.

However, the actual number of voters getting to the polls and voting only increased by a small amount - 129.1 million voted in 2012 and 136.7 million voted in 2016. So, only about 15% of the newly registered actually voted.

The newly registered generally vote in high percentages. They're also on GOTV lists, so they get encouragement.
