It will be our Auntie Ruthie and women like her that will help lead the way to another underground railroad. An underground that will help our women and girls with a choice over their bodies.

It is well past time that these men are gone from office. They are a pitiful excuse for human beings.

That seems to be the implication you're making here - that "Ruthie" is acting like a Christian even if she isn't one, as if it's unusual for non-Christians to be loving and kind.

To paraphrase your response to patphil above: "Nothing in the post even hints at what non-Christian beliefs might be about."

that the anti-abortionists too often use an excuse for their hate, bigotry, misogyny, and all around general dickheadedness.

So the Alabama Christians say "This kind of law is what Christianity is all about!" and all sensible Christians say "No, it isn't. Christianity is about love."

But, all that said, I can see where the first post here could be taken as a statement against non-Christians as being non-loving. Unfortunate, but I think it's clear that was not the intention.

needs to form. People who are poor will not be able to afford the travel required to have a safe and legal abortion. I live in Georgia, and would be happy to drive someone where they need to go. My challenge would be getting plugged into the network. I wouldn't know how or where to start.

I hope we never need the network, but darkness is starting to fall.

On edit - Amtrak goes from Atlanta to D.C., too -- the Crescent line. It's cheaper than flying, although the trip is slow. Still, it's important that we somehow educate people about all of their options.

Interesting conflict: In this quote from their site, it explains that some states have mandatory waiting periods and excessive requirements for pre-abortion unnecessary medical visits. It just occurred to me that those could quite reasonably be responsible for pushing an abortion past the 6 week limit, making one law responsible for infringement on another.

“Our country’s restrictive reproductive policies are infringing on people’s rights to make decisions about whether and when to start a family. Coverage bans like the Hyde amendment, mandatory delay laws that force people to make multiple trips to clinics, and many other restrictions are just part of a larger attack on our reproductive freedom. A lack of paid sick days exacerbates these barriers by forcing people to choose between abortion care and losing wages or even jeopardizing their employment. State and local paid sick days laws can help people obtain the care they need and allow them to make the best decision about whether to start or grow their families without jeopardizing their financial future.”

Is already putting together contingency plans if SC follows suit and the courts don’t stop this insanity. Whether it is providing airfare, or having volunteers to drive women to the nearest state, the plan is to see that no one is deprived of the right to a safe and legal procedure if she so chooses.
