Looks like all that hot air in Tampa pushed Hurricane Isaac westward and it's going to take a direct hit along the LA/MS/AL coasts.
Hugs to all of you!!! Stay safe and stay dry!

(95,337 posts)I've been at DU here for ages and I know of at least a dozen DUers from that part of the country some of them who went thru hell & back after Katrina.

I was personally thanked by Cindy Sheehan's lawyer for the response of DUers in trying to help him locate his missing child in the hours after the hurricane.
We had many DUers whose lives were devastated by Katrina. And DU helped where we could. Remember our Katrina relief where we auctioned Mardi Gras masks to raise money for DUers? Remember Skinner's collecting for Red Cross? We have a history of helping. Not everyone has forgotten, I am glad to see!

(95,337 posts)Or was that person pointing out the obvious that in general DUers have said some bad things about the south as a whole.
Don't get me wrong, we care about the people of the south but the south has been disparaged plenty of times here at DU.

(60,010 posts)It is hot and sunny, but winds have picked up since 7 this am.
I am 90 miles due north of Pensacola, so we will get the backside of Issacs winds. With any luck, just wind and rain, hopefully not too much of either. But we are prepared as can be, in a solid house, no flood zone, and most tall trees are away from the house or at least not tilting towards the house.
Originally there was a chance Issac would hit us dead center, and I noticed, while at the store today, the check out clerk said store was packed this weekend.
