I wish there was an "Alert Undo" button

I stupidly alerted a post which I misread, where one word completely changed the context.

Moral: Never do anything permanent before coffee

4. Everyone makes mistakes

There is nothing permanent about an alert--even if it gets juried 7-0, you only lose alerting power for 24 hours. It's happened to me (more than once) and to a lot of folks.

Probably impossible to enforce but it’s usually obvious..

I find it better to personally respond to the poster. It's better to let everyone see who is doing the violating.
