In today's Asheville Citizen-Times:
The media is calling our countrys current political crisis a standoff between the executive and legislative branches of government. It is not. While focusing on the Trump administrations stone-walling denial of the House of Representatives Constitutional obligation to act as a check on Presidential over-reach, illegality and corruption, it is ignored that his illegal actions as a citizen, a candidate and as President would be exposed and prosecuted were it not for Trumps unwavering support by Congressional Republicans, who instead now echo Trumps call for investigating his investigators! What we frighteningly seem to be witnessing is a dangerous assault on American democracy by the Republican Party which seems to move increasingly in the direction of seeking one-party Republican authoritarian control. We in North Carolina know this to be true and can certainly attest to the anti-democratic actions of Republicans at every level of office in our state in their grab for power. It is clear, American democracy is in peril from within, and Americans, regardless of previous party affiliation, can only save this democracy by voting Republicans out of office, starting with Trump, and then on down through every national, state and local legislative, executive and judicial office.

Both sides the same, my ass.
