BFD about Judge Mehta's decision: it's directed to Trump's accounting firm, not his administration m

The judge ordered Trump's accounting firm to turn over the tax records, not Mnuchin are any other of Trump's minions.

This makes it a whole different ball game. The accountants aren't likely to risk find in jail over a client, even if it's the president. And Trump's usual tactic of threatening a lawsuit won't work because he has no legal standing to object to his accountant's following a court order.

As I said, this is a BFD.

I'm pretty sure it's against the code of ethics for a CPA to refuse a validly issued subpoena. W_HAMILTON May 2019 #4

Which means he's low-balled them, underpaid, paid late, or not at all, complained relentlessly about their work, threatened them with lawsuits, and just all-around pissed off everyone there.

No, I have no evidence that any of this is true, but I still know it is.

Because Donald Trump.

You can lose your CPA license over it.

The subpoena is not directed at trump but trump sued both the accounting firm and the House to stop enforcement of the subpoena which gave rise to this decision. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-sues-in-bid-to-block-congressional-subpoena-of-financial-records/2019/04/22/a98de3d0-6500-11e9-82ba-fcfeff232e8f_story.html?utm_term=.78903bae5c17

President Trump sued his own accounting firm and the Democratic chairman of the House Oversight Committee at the same time Monday — trying an unusual tactic to stop the firm from giving the committee details about Trump’s past financial dealings.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the District of Columbia, seeks a court order to quash a subpoena issued last week by the committee to Mazars USA. Trump’s lawyers also are asking a federal judge to temporarily block the subpoena until the court has had a chance to review their request.

The move amounts to Trump — the leader of the executive branch of government — asking the judicial branch to stop the legislative branch from investigating his past.

Former House counsels from both sides of the aisle called the challenge a long shot and an apparent delay tactic.

The ruling today makes me smile
