personally, I think when to impeach the orange asshole is all about timing.

Pelosi hasn't ruled it out but she certainly isn't perusing it.

I believe, if she were to launch a impeachment investigation now, by the time the election rolls around the repukes will have completely derailed the narrative.

I'm of the belief that something will happen, impeachment-wise, come October/November. once we are in the one year to go election cycle, having impeachment hearings start then, will dominate the news cycle for months.

more over, I think also doing it then, will have various repukes up for re-election worried.

if the overwhelming evidence against the orange asshole is showcased to the American public, many people, (read historic red areas) will begin to question things. and those very members of congress who are in those areas running for re-election will have to walk a very fine line. So fine that some might fall over into the "impeach trump" category to save their congressional seats.

2. I want him impeached now as well, but I also know that the land we live in today...

is not the land we lived in in 1972.

it's all about media and the media controlled by the right wing now.

it's a huge factor that needs to be understood in the landscape of modern politics.

3. It's going to be rough

I agree mostly. What I realized the other day is we should expect and even want cries for impeachment to get louder.

If we expect to win over more moderates and even republicans we should also expect the demands from our side to increase.

The battles over getting the unredacted report and the subpoenas go to the heart of the constitutional crisis more than impeachment hearings. The president is asserting that only the executive branch can investigate itself. That congress has no right to oversight.

If we lose these battles in the supreme court we are left with only the power of the purse. I don’t believe that can be done surgically. A lawless president will move funds around as he wants because of “emergency”.

The crisis is already here. I’m hoping for the best and dreading the worst.

5. I understand the timing argument

I’m open to what works. However I believe impeachment MUST happen. To not do so, would mean that our Democracy has finally been broken beyond repair.

6. You think like a politician and I think you're right

Strategy and timing are very important and necessary in politics. You can’t waste your time taking action when it doesn’t benefit your cause or when it’s plain to see that it’s a losing move.

I think their strategy now is to give Trump all the rope he wants and tell the public he’s self-impeaching and forcing them to fight back because he wants to destroy Democracy and they want to save it. Then when they do start the impeachment process it will be done by their timing and because he forced them to. Timing that can bring the worst devastation to him and the Republican Party and the best chances of winning the elections in 2020 for the Democrats.

Politics is about winning. Whether it is something good or bad depends on what winning means for the American people.
