(42,770 posts)moderate Dems. What is the red line? (for impeachment)? She was told that is when the courts order him to do something and he doesn't. That is the constitutional crisis moment. Not sure how that applies because it is his telling others not to comply, right?

(10,156 posts)Trump was always obese, but now he looks to be on the far side of 300 pounds, and rapidly gaining. The stress is definitely taking a toll, and binge eating seems to be his only escape. At this rate, he'll be tipping the scales at 400 pretty soon. Maybe he'll stroke out and save Democrats the trouble of impeachment.

Setting up a narrative of persecution? Shit. It's been nothing BUT persecution from the very beginning. Why would that be changing now? Of course it isn't.
He sucks at life - so he waddles up to the game board, sticks half the money in his pocket, throws the game pieces all over the room, eats the instruction sheet and then has a screaming temper-tantrum that the other kids won't let him win because "THEY ALL HATE ME."

There is cunning in that - his deliberately primitive use of language, the mnemonic nicknames his enemies, treating everything as a ratings war.

the idea that "We are giving him something to run on" w impeachment is ridiculous. That's akin to saying that whatever he says, will sway the voters we know as the 2/3rds, to somehow change their minds and vote for him? Come on. Come ON.
If the elction is our only remedy...I'd like to see hearings every week on how the election is being hardened. If the election is all we have as Democrats, then what are we doing to make sure that trump doesnt happen again? SO much crap.
He hates us, and he will allow putin and others to attack us, while looking the other way.

(50,553 posts)Those fine individuals built the impeachment process into the Constitution because we were going to be a kinder, more enlightened country. Way back then, the normal way to get rid of a tyrannical leader was to behead the bastard. In our new and improved nation, the fine men we placed in our Congress would simply vote to send our bad presidents home.
If they could have seen far enough into the future to envision not only Trump but an entire House of Congress that enables him, they very well might have left that part out. Impeachment is not going to rid us of this man, we cant guillotine him and we may not be able to vote him out.
The only thing we can do now is get a court to decide Trump cant run the country by executive order, work to get the bastard defeated in 2020, investigate the hell out of him, and write a bunch of really good bills that we can take to the voters and say, if you give us a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President, we will enact all these laws in January 2021.

(50,553 posts)...is the process for getting rid of a legislator. You have to commit big-boy-prison grade crimes like Duke Cunningham did to even hint at expulsion.
I figure a panel of 98 citizens, two from each state except the one the legislator in question is from, would work. None of them can be elected officials and one from each state has to be schooled in the law. Sixty votes and youre history.
I also want congressional salaries raised to $1 million a year, with the provision that we get a completely new Congress before the pay raise. The people we want to be our leaders cant live on $165,000 per year. Thats Home Depot store manager money. Because the top notch people cant work for so little, we get all these rich guys out for themselves, zealots with agendas and guys auditioning for lobbyist jobs. Pay them a million a year and watch the good people start to run.
Next, I want Congressional terms to be 4 years and senate terms to be 8, and the election to happen in a presidential year.
I want elections funded through tax rebates to tv/radio stations and newspapers, a small amount of tax dollars for transportation and mailings, and no private contributions allowed.
I do not want term limits for legislators. The only way a state like Vermont or Wyoming gets any credibility in Congress is to send legislators back so many times they grow mold.

(1,981 posts)For President:
- Minimum experience qualification, must have held some elected position at a city/county level for multiple terms. This helps demonstrate that the candidate is serious about public service.
- Full financial disclosure of ten years of tax returns.
- Complete divesting from any business with international clients.
For Congress:
Permanently change the approval of all SCOTUS justices and Constitutional officers to a 60/40 or 2/3 majority.
Regain all powers related to treaties, "war powers" and the like that were originally reserved for Congress
End the unchecked pardon power; give some legislative or judicial body "review power".
That's a start...

Something needs to be done and Trump now says No Investigations than no infra structure.. wtf? So he is trying to bargain his way out of investigations??
That's not happening... let the investigations continue as he is covering stuff up! They will probably find a many things he is guilty of...he is a con man, and he will go to prison eventually.
