General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere is much with which to be annoyed in the often mindless media coverage of this
"administration", but one of the recurring themes that never ceases to yank my chain is the nonsense about Trump having "plans" or, better yet, "strategies"; about his "preparation" for meetings with world leaders; and, about his "policies".
The man has no moral core, no convictions and has never believed anything beyond "I'm entitled to whatever I want when I want it".
He feels no need to learn anything because there is nothing he does not know. He is certain that he can create facts simply by announcing them.
To cut to the chase, his only "policy" is that he will make shit up as he goes along, simply opening his mouth and spewing silliness that would be cause to commit most of us to an institution for a psychiatric evaluation. This has worked for him his entire life and anyone who expects him to change is living in La-la Land.
To pretend, for the sake of the "uninvolved and uninformed", that we are trying to "work with" this monstrous spoiled child is ill-advised and, I believe, will return to bite us when the full extent of his corruption is revealed.
Rant light off.

(6,793 posts)Just give him a chance. Most in the media hover on the edge of stupidity. Problem is they have national forums.

(9,426 posts)only not into the job, unfortunately for us. He is as fat as a hog. No neck. Maybe he wants to avoid being hanged (as a traitor), so he gained weight until his neck is just no longer visible? He is just a large, orange blob of obesity.

(5,106 posts)One more way that the pressure is showing. Maybe he IS, the "healthiest" man ever to be president, unlikely as it seems. He never seems to suffer beyond obvious physical laziness, in hauling his bulk around. No heart attack episodes, no mysterious days out of the public eye...he still swings a gulf club, if nothing else. WTF? He's no Dick Cheney in regards to looking after himself.

(8,020 posts)MSM would be screaming about it 24/7 about how he/she must be removed, is nuts, unfit for office, playing the really unhinged part of the speeches over & over, calling for impeached, unprecedented, should be riots in the streets, ect, ect,ect

(7,142 posts)it is complicit with the far right, it controls the narrative. Yes, there are good reporters on cable news but there are only a couple who stray from the narratives. I only watch Nicolle and Rachel.
OT but Chuck Todd needs some lessons on comb overs from Trump. No I don't watch him, I see him after Nicolle's show is over.

(56,828 posts)Because they have the huge megaphone of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, amplified by One America and Sinclair on TV, all the other RW radio hosts that are nationally syndicated, regional or local, and all the RW newspapers like the NY Post, Washington Times and others. Not to mention most small newspapers around the country have been bought up by RW conglomerates over the past 20 or so years (several years back, 18 of the top 20 syndicated op-ed columnists were Republican/Conservative, 1 was a Democrat/Liberal and one was non partisan/centrist)
And, it's not just the profit motive - the R/W Washington Times lost an average of $100 million/year for nearly 20 years for the Moon family, but they felt it important to have a far right alternative to the Washington Post.
Progressive media is selected hosts on MSNBC and Comedy Central.

Of course, the right wing madness is louder and much better funded, but we're here and we are the TRUTH!!!!

(11,552 posts)Research, creating plans or strategies and so forth is for his underlings to do. Trump is much too important to lower himself to such menial tasks. I would be surprised if Trump has ever broken a sweat in his entire life (except, perhaps, on the golf course). The one thing he does excel at is shooting off his mouth.

(9,895 posts)I mean the man's vocabulary is around 1,000 words or less.
He CONSTANTLY compares EVERYTHING to the "best ever, maybe of all-time"...
He is poor at annunciation and aside from the usual angry bluster and predictable (and BORING) mannerism with his tiny fingers trying to make them appear larger, he is a one-trick pony that bores the shit out of me.
I would LOVE to debate him in a controlled setting...

(4,032 posts)Sadly, what else can be expected from the covfefe, hamberder peddler?
This presidency will go down in the annals of history as one of the worst comedy skits of all time. Generations will laugh their rear ends off at the Joker In Chief and his ill-suited side kicks - the Republican Party.

(15,139 posts)the media pretends that Trump is something other than what he is -- a very sick man who should be nowhere near the White House. In a rational world, he would have been removed via the 25th Amendment long ago. That he is still here, spewing his crap, points to a broken system. The Founding Fathers would be ashamed that he is allowed to continue defiling the office and bringing shame to the institution daily.

(52,196 posts)never mind the psychological defects. even just handling negotiations and policy meetings as you describe, the media would clobber any democratic president for being so embarrassingly lost on the details.
"where's the beef", as they used to say.
all his "policies" are little more than stupid campaign talking points dressed up as an executive order or an outline for a bill.

(24,406 posts)The slightest trip or gaffe by the Democratic nominee will be mercilessly seized on to try to be seen as equivalent to Trump's massive incompetence.

(24,406 posts)It should be obvious to even the most dimwitted by now that that's NOT going to happen. Not now- or ever- and that the best thing for everybody will be to get rid of him at least electorally next year and put somebody much smarter and competent into the job. Trump was never going to be able to even pretend to be able to do the job like GWB.
