Trump; Prison or resignation? What would you prefer?

Thinking back to Spiro Agnew the US Attorney had him cold on bribery charges that would have sent him to prison for a long time. Agnew's lawyers negotiated a "deal" where he would trade his resignation as VP for no jail time.

Trump will probably be in the same position. My feeling is that if he is NOT re-elected then I would prefer they just wait him out and send him to prison. IF there are enough idiots to re-elect him then I think he may be able to get the same deal Agnew got.

Your thoughts?

With his combination of idiot brain, fat mouth that won't shut up, and long history assisting them with illegal acts, I would think they would consider having him around a liability.

I think he might find greener pastures in his other favorite country, Saudi Arabia. Isn't that where Idi Amin took refuge? They are similar in many ways.

Perhaps the Saudi's may help him out. He better hope someone wants him because he's likely facing a jail cell somewhere in New York's state penal system if he doesn't find a good place he can run to.

Whatever, he better be careful if he's looking to Putin for help. I'm guessing that Putin could just as easily have him thrown out of an airplane as wanting to actually help him hide from American justice.

They could still give him a safe place to land if they wanted to. Its the same with the Saudis. Nobody has any use for him once he is no longer president.

But he would be wise to find a place to run if he wants to avoid incarceration because the State of New York seems to be getting serious about prosecuting him.

Thu May 23, 2019, 10:59 AM
May 2019

Even if he is impeached and charged criminally, he would never see the inside of a prison in his life.

Why? He's 73 and with the appeals process, father time is likely to catch up. Further, they wouldn't throw a former POTUS in a federal pin; he'd get what amounts to "lifetime house arrest" at worst. Even when NY State charges him - and they will - he wont do a second of State time for the same reasons.

Even at state level, he'd probably just pay a fine.

However, I would enjoy watching his and the GOP's reaction as he is impeached, and then tried by NY. This could constitute years of humiliation for him--and fright for them--and I'm not against that.

Because this isn't about a blow job, as it was with Clinton. It's not even about his adultery and lechery. It's about anti-constitutional behavior and an above-the-law power grab. We need to make sure others are deterred from attempting the same thing.

after he resigned. Nixon did, for the most part. He did the Frost interviews, but no one wanted Nixon to get back into a position where he was regarded as a respected elder statesman.

Trump has to go to jail. He would not shut up if he had a deal like Agnew's. He would crow about how he had "won." He needs to be shut down and shut up.

I used to think it would be okay if he was forced to resign, and we allowed him to frame it as a win. I don't think I feel that way any more. Things have gone too far. He is becoming more of a madman by the day.

It's not in his DNA. If he doesn't go to prison and become is stripped of all of his money - he'll continue to insert himself in our faces somehow. Tweets. TV. etc.

He and his family need to be held responsible for their actions and crimes. If not - somewhere down the line - we'll have ourselves another Trump-like character.

People like Trump need to be taught a lesson - that nobody is above the law. We also have to close all the loopholes that this guy exploited so that this country will never face another crisis like this in the future.

he certainly didn't stay out of politics, just did his deeds in the dark.

Without a doubt I want Trump impeached but I don't see him ever going to jail for any crime -- or his kids either, because of our two systems of justice. Because of that I'd rather he be forced to resign and be stripped of his pension in lieu of jail, although he's probably going to need his pension to pay all the back taxes that he owes.

Trump and Pence got up to fight.
Back-to-back they faced one another,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
One was blind and the other couldn't see,
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"
A paralyzed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind men in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine-inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And went to arrest the two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man – he saw it too!

Just once, JUST ONCE I would like to see a rich man spend some significant time in prison with no privileges.

In Trump's case I would love to see Trump's assets seized and sold to pay back what he has skimmed in "emoluments" and what he has screwed workers out of over the decades.
