'Power' loss: TV show protests Georgia abortion law by leaving U.S. state

“The Power”, an upcoming TV series produced by online retail and entertainment giant Amazon, will no longer film in Georgia, following the state’s near ban on abortion that was signed into law earlier this month, director Reed Morano said.

“It felt wrong for us to go ahead and make our show and take money/tax credit from a state that is taking this stance on the abortion issue,” Morano wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. - PoliticusUSA

Boycotts work and over time the financial loss does have an impact. A fellow DUer (a CO resident) confirmed this in reply to a similar post.

I think it could be the first snowflake of an avalanche of departing entertainment (ironically TFT can't, as they are all FROM Atlanta except for me). It's not something that will ruin the state economically by itself, BUT...the entertainment industry there by its very nature is VERY high profile, and it could easily bring some less prominent (but BIG dollar) businesses with it. And THAT is when the Georgia Republicans will start to feel the pinch, and wonder if hitching their fortunes to the God Squad was such a brilliant move.

The God Squad isn't going anywhere, of course, but the people they depend on for their rank and file's jobs might start to vote with their feet. No more jobs, no more endless stream of $5 and $10 dollar bills in their megachurch trays every Sunday, and SOMEBODY has to pay for the Jet A1 fuel for all those private planes of theirs.

Abramson has already stated that Production Firms pulling out of State of Georgia will hurt more than the Politicians. This will hurt the average guy, the folks that work behind the scenes. The Caterers, the Stagehands, and there are more than the Studio folk that are going to feel this. Betting quite a few Electrical Workers, and Carpenters already packing up and heading elsewhere. Let's face it, most know that Schools out, jobs will be shutting down, and not returning. Best to leave now, while kids are out of school and it's easier to move to new areas. What my Mom and Dad did to three of us on more than one occasion.
