I can't help it. Many of the people hurt by the recent wave of tornadoes

and hurricanes think that climate change is a hoax. They also do not want a functioning government - until they ask for help.

A tornado hit Missouri capital. Too late, the anti abortion law already passed.

I hope that DUers from Oklahoma and Texas and Missouri and Iowa and Nebraska are OK.

But otherwise...

. . .in the Midwest and Great Plains states.

The science on it is not conclusive as to whether or not it is a part of climate change.

But yeah, government is like a lawyer or a doctor. People like to rag on it until a time comes when they really need one. Human nature.

rain falls on the just and the unjust. We have a whole lot of people really hurting here in Missouri. Not only from tornadoes but from flooding.

I don't care if someone disagrees with me politically. This is not the time for politics. Thus is a time to dig in and help anyone who needs help.

there were stories that Houston and, Texas, I suppose, did not believe in urban planning. Individuals kept building in flood areas, kept losing their homes kept getting money form.... FEMA, again and again.

No, I don't know that there are ways to avoid being hit by tornadoes. But, perhaps, acknowledging that these are not arbitrary "acts of god" but that climate change has to at least be acknowledged may help.

I am so sick of all this water. I just was on Highway 9 going into Parkville. The river is full bank to bank. English Landing Park is under water again.

And the storms keep coming.

I would like to believe that there is no single poster here that would wish harm on anybody on our site, well, other than Ivan and his paid crew from Vlad's team. I think it's the same argument that comes up with taxes: the states that pay the most usually get less than what's been paid into the fed coffers, while the "whiny red states" tend to get back more than they've paid in.
Yes, it is a GLOBAL PROBLEM - and IQ45 withdrawing from the global initiative does not help matters. And for him to mislead his minions regarding the issue should be another strike and charge against him for impeachment.

We have a war to fight - let's not do it among ourselves.

fewer regulations, so why are they shocked by the inevitable results?

Building codes are troublesome. Real men don't need no dang gubbermint agent tellin' 'em to build sturdier structures that can withstand tornado force winds. Why pay for advanced weather tracking and warning systems, or pay for scientists to study better methods to improve pubic safety when that tax money could be spent on something fun... Like a sports franchise?

Since global warming is a hoax there's no need to plan for increasingly dangerous weather and storms. Sure, go ahead and build that huge housing track in the old river basin, why it ain't never seen a trickle in living memory. Y'all will be just fine.

I have friends in those states... several in MO... some were affected. All were frightened. And you know what, some weren't DU'ers, some are Republicans and some even voted for Trump. Whether I agree with their politics or not, they are fellow humans and they don't deserve to be treated as less than human because you don't like their politics. Please rethink your position and considered your humanity.
