People don't like reading, they like live TV...i.e. Mueller's testimony...

I respect Mueller's wish for a closed door hearing. I get it. Who wants a public spectacle? The repubs would just impugn the man and his service, the investigation he conducted and the people who worked for him doing their diligent best. I get that.

But on the other hand, an open public hearing would likely put a lot of nails in tRump's coffin, IMO.

expressions and listen to the nuanced changes in his tone of voice. These are vital components in our understanding of human language and the information that's being communicated and which parts might be more important than others.

All those subtle audio and visual cues help us judge the validity of the spoken words and decide if we find the speaker credible. You can't determine any of that from printed text.

If they were really interested in the information, they wouldn't be throwing fits about having to get it in a transcript v. on the teevee.

But the giddy part of me wants the public testimony.

I don't mind the extra work of reading.

Each side comes out w a story, and only one of them isn't lying, but the wilfully ignorant take what they want to heaar, and leave all the rest. (The rest usually being the inconvenient truths therein.)
They go with it on fox news and there's no truth anymore, just their version. And we give them that every time we let these folks testify behind closed doors. We asked for the report not bc of a stupid thing like benghazi, we asked for the report bc russia and the trump family were feared to be in choots to attack and destroy America, on putins behalf.
When this started they knew it was going to be explosive if true. BACK THEN they were ok w testifying in public. We need accountability in our prosecuors and investigations. imho.

The Dems obviously want it public and I get it. I also get Mueller's position, too.

No one can argue the weight of a public testimony. I'm fine with a transcript, but reading isn't hard work for me either like it seems to be for so many these days.

Two years of investigation shouldn't be judged on the basis of a few hours of one person's testimony.

That's what it would turn into, since it's the sort of shallow slice that Trump can comprehend.
