Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) daughter reacted Thursday afternoon to reports of conservative social media accounts sharing falsely edited videos of Pelosi made to appear as if the speaker was intoxicated by stating that her mother does not drink.
In a tweet, Christine Pelosi called an edited video that circulated to more than 1.3 million Facebook users after being taken down by YouTube "despicable," slamming attempts by conservatives to question the sobriety and mental health of her mother.
"Republicans and their conservative allies have been pumping this despicable fake meme for years! Now they are caught," she wrote, adding: "#FactCheck: Madam Speaker doesn't even drink alcohol!"
n a second message, Pelosi's daughter shared a hateful message received from a supporter of President Trump who accused the speaker of hating America while questioning her alcohol use.
"This is the cr*p I'm talking about - reported to @Facebook - which like @Twitter will not suspend the account that clearly violated Terms Of Service. Obviously this doesn't stop ME but others are affected by the "voter depression" strategy that Trump allies are perpetuating," Christine Pelosi wrote, attaching a screenshot of the message.

The next step for this new discourse is, probably, violence.

Can You Sue?
Before you run off to court, make sure you have a legitimate claim. Your two biggest hurdles are:
1. showing that the statement was defamatory and not privileged, and
2. proving you were actually harmed.
If you meet the legal requirements, then you can file your lawsuit.
