How is the Trump presidency playing out?

Think back to fall of 2016. What did you expect from a Trump administration?

I figured by now that his administration would be in turmoil and his support would be minuscule.
Only half of that is true.
So that's what is worse than expected. United States citizens still support this conman. Incredible.

I'd be interested in the explanation. Perhaps if someone was absolutely convinced that Trump would have provoked nuclear war by now then things aren't as bad as expected.

Other than ramming their tax cut through with budget reconciliation, they shockingly were content with filling the courts and being an embarrassment. I expected far more legislative damage.

Trump himself has been about what I figured; an eyesore, an asshole, generally incompetent, but also ineffective.

Thankfully he hasn't started any wars yet. I think a lot of us were afraid he'd start world war 3 by now.

So better than I expected but just because my imagination has a nasty way of painting a very dark picture.

I had no idea that it could actually be THIS BAD.

It's terrible, of course. I expected him to be about as bad as he is, but somewhat more competent and better able to accomplish his terrible goals. He is not competent and doesn't listen to his own people, so he has accomplished fewer bad things than I expected. I also expected another unnecessary war, a la Bush. It could still happen, but hasn't yet.

I was sure he'd have been exposed and tossed out of office within the first year.

Feels sort of like undergoing an extended version of the Ancient Rite of Circumcision of the Incas (that's where you use a flat rock and a dull rock).
