The Forty Percent Solution. ( A dangerous journey into the unknown.)
In the year 2016 roughly 40% of the American people decided the politicians and democracy were no longer working for them. They wanted America to try a new path never taken in American history. They made the decision they wanted a different type of president to lead the country and it would be this type of president that would help them, save them and save the country.
They wanted the new President to be tough and to do what he said he was going to do. They wanted someone who was not, had never been, a politician They also made it clear these qualities and traits were no longer needed for a president. They did not matter. Morals, values, honesty, lawfulness, mental stability, competence, wisdom, compassion. The law and constitution were no longer as important.
They found what they were looking for in Trump. They were so sure they had found what they were looking for they decided to follow Trump blindly, they would not let anything change their belief they had found the answer they were looking for.
This is the journey we are all on whether we like it or not. This journey, this path has never been taken before in America. It is a path full of unknowns and danger. It is a path littered with the graves of those who risked this journey in the past.
Throughout history other countries have taken this path, this journey. The results were horrifying. In 1930s Germany the people took a similar path. They elected Hitler who openly had many of the same characteristics as Trump. It took many years before the German people realized the consequences of their decision to elect Hitler. The horror, the destruction did not happen overnight. It slowly unfolded over the years. When the German people realized their mistake, it was too late.
Trump has been in office for a little over two years. I know, it seems much longer. If history repeats itself we may be only looking at the beginning of the consequences being realized for the decision of the forty percent. The worst may be yet to come.
From this moment on I will be calling the Trump voters, "The Forty Percent Solution" Good luck to all of us.
