(31,261 posts)They live and hate in silence and when they strike, people die.
The loudmouths are easier to deal with because they can be monitored.

(82,849 posts)So much creativity spent on opposing these knuckleheads. Well, klansmen, if you really want to start a race war be sure you know what the ratio is going to be.

The Church of God from little old Greenville showed up to sing Amazing Grace. They should have played this.

(17,162 posts)We share the same 12th or 13th great grandfather both on our Mothers side who was a British sea captain who came to Massachusetts in the 1700s (if I remember correctly from my research).
So glad you posted this clip. The authenticity, the compassion, the decency, the humility....what a wonderful human.

I think, at times we did not appreciate him as much as we should have, after Bush but did not really understand how low we could sink.
Next step, Supreme Court for your cousin, maybe, even his wife.

(17,984 posts)Serious question. $650K so that nine idiots could have their intolerance protected. It seems to me that the dumbasses should have to pony up the funds. If they can only scrounge $10K, so be it. They get one mounted police officer for protection.

(21,646 posts)Why not oh yeah they need protection because they are broadcasting hate
I like your idea of contracting police protection at a cost but not sure if it is legal for police or a city to do that everywhere

(9,965 posts)A bunch from Ct, had taken to lighting crosses in a rented field in Western VT. After the 2nd one needed the State Police, the Gov. issued a short statement: We are a small state, with very limited resources. We can no longer take our police away from protecting Vermonters. (IIRC, by )
By turns a fierce lawyer, dissolute womanizer, beloved local figure, and the Gov. Vt, needed then! Plus a nice encore as UVM Interim Pres., after the dismissal of an ineffectual one. Asked what his plans were, "I ain't climbin no f'n ladders!" Seems the ex-Pres, climbing a ladder to shoo students out of his office, set a poor tone. "Uncle Tom" solved stuff like that in 15 min. and who's going for beer?

(58,785 posts)A KKK nest had been holding an annual parade in our deep south Georgia town for a while when we first moved here. A local in a club I'd just joined, who hadn't said anything but hi to me yet, went out of her way to let me know that people would be avoiding downtown the next morning because of the parade. Within another couple of years the KKKers gave up and left to join a group in a neighboring county, where they also all apparently did poorly. Don't know what happened to them.
Hate groups are around, of course, but even these days acting is is fairly rare. They're not welcome.
