How far is too far when it comes to stopping someone spreading hate speech? Hitting them over the head with a baseball bat, apparently. Controversial street preacher Brother Dean Saxton spends his days denouncing homosexuality and holding signs telling women they deserve rape for not being true Christians. A while ago, Brother Dean posted a YouTube video of his demonstration at Apollo High School. There, he used a megaphone to tell students they’re going to hell. A couple of minutes into the video, you can hear him being hit from behind. Brother Dean was able to walk away but he was bleeding from a gash on his head.

10. I wonder at times if violence isn't justified in some cases.

We have politicians who are using the shield of non-violence to provide them with a stage to flout their disrespect for basic justice. A flagrant example is the repulsive behavior or many Republicans, such as
McTurtle who uses abuses his authority to block any constructive actions, insults President Obama and then flouts this in the face of Democrats with a smug confidence that someone won't be provoked to slug the bastard. Perhaps if someone came forward and knocked him on his ass he wouldn't be so confident that he can abuse his authority. I realize that many will justifiably take exception, but sometimes it seems justified. It is like the drunken lout that is abusing a women and the gentleman steps forward and coldcocks the bastard while the crowd applauses.

How do you deal with a violent sociopath such as Hitler. Many applauded the attempts to assassinate him and would have gladly put a bullet in him without recourse and would been hail a hero. Many approve of sentencing people to death for crimes less than homicide. A prime example was the trial of traitors in Europe during WWII in which they were killed by firing squads. Aren't bullies like Trump and many of today's Republicans taking advantage of the situation in which they know there won't be any retaliation. Their forms of violence that are not physical but just as deadly. I regard Trump's scamming hundreds if not thousands of honest workers out of their promised pay as a form of violence that could leave many destitute. Hundred of people lost the life savings in his numerous con jobs and the people were helpless to collect a dime and he responded they should have read the contract more carefully. Unfortunately, the laws are designed to protect the innocent and provide crooks like Trump the opportunity to rob people blind. People console themselves with the what many regard as a fantasy they evil bastards will be punished in the after life. The con artists only consider that an opportunity to bilk at will knowing there won't be any retribution and the law will actually protect them. Its more than ironic.

If I was an LEO and assigned to cover this "incident" I must say that I would do my professional best to make sure that the "victim" was cared for.
After calling for medical coverage, I'd be sure to "work with him" to record in writing EVERYTHING leading up to the incident, you know, like:
Where were you yesterday?
How did you get here today?
How long have you been here?
Why are you here?
Did somebody pay you to be here?
Have you ever done anything like this before?
Where did you have an event like this before?
Did anything like this happen there?
Did you have anybody else with you on those previous occasions?
How long did you plan on being here?
Why did you choose this location?
Was there anybody else with you?
Can you tell me, in your own words, what happened?
Why do you think that happened?
Had you been told that this might happen?
How many people were witnesses to this "event?"
Can you describe them for me?
Do you think any of them were accomplices to the "alleged" attacker?
Can you describe the "alleged" attacker for me?
What do you think provoked this "alleged" attack?
What did you do to prevent it?

Well, I think you get the idea - I'd be VERY sure to get all of the information necessary to understand what actually happened. I, of course, would be writing all of this down, slow as I am at actually writing things down.

But, hey, I'd be there to protect and serve, right?
That is a constitutional right that should be guaranteed for all - and we all know that there are always good people on both sides, right?

I wasn't present when the Bill of Rights was being drafted so I can't claim to know for certain what it's intention was. However, I have my doubts as to whether the intent was to allow hate speech and the inciting of violence against certain groups of people.

Yes, the comments are indeed golden, but putting that aside...

1) An attack like that may provoke an in-kind retaliation

2) The person wielding the bat will most certainly suffer more than the person who was attacked, unless of course, if...

3) The person the person wielding the bat caused a severe injury or death. Then everyone's pain is immeasurable.

Personally, I would have either stood in front of him with my back to him without saying a word, or...

I would have ridiculed him to the point where he would leave the premises. Or most likely, I probably would have just called the cops and let them deal with the jerk. I didn't watch the entire video, but he could be able to make a case that no law was broken, but I'm not entirely sure about that. At some point, the stuff he was doing becomes bona fide harassment, and talking shit to high schoolers doesn't go over real well with most sane people.
