A Catholic bishop who was instrumental in creating Californias Proposition 8 same sex marriage ban was arrested for driving under the influence over the weekend less than a day after the church insulted LGBT activists by naming him the Archbishop of San Francisco.
According to KGO, Bishop Salvatore Cordileone was arrested in San Diegos College District on Saturday morning just before 12:30 a.m.
Salvatore, who has called marriage equality the ultimate attack of the Evil One, organized Catholic and evangelical leaders to back Proposition 8, a 2008 ballot initiative that enshrined marriage discrimination in the California state constitution.
Pope Benedict XVI announced on Friday morning that Cordileone had been appointed to serve as the Metropolitan Archbishop of San Francisco.

(2,921 posts)Have to show upstanding citizenship when being out in public, not drunk as a skunk.

(11,304 posts)You know they drink wine during the mass. I have seen my priest I worked after services get a little tipsy. They usually don't eat before a service. I have seen a priest do a mass, christenings and funeral and mass again if it is a big parrish. I am not giving him a pat on the back because I don't even know who this guy is but already I can see I don't like his politics.

(2,289 posts)He'll just take some of the local congregants' offerings and use them for a fancy car service. He'll stick to something less than the Pope-mobile, like a normal limo, since he doesn't want to get on Ratfinger's nerves. He doesn't want Ratfinger thinking that he's gunning for the old man's job.
